Canada's top MMA promotion returns as Hard Knocks Fighting presents "HK 35", on April 25 at the Century Casino in Calgary. Hard Knocks Fighting is the fastest growing promotion in Canada with shows in Calgary, Medicine Hat, Regina, Estevan, Prince Albert, and expanding quickly to new cities. The action packed 13 bout pro/am card will feature many of the top up and coming superstars of the Great White North.In the main event, in the pro ranks, in a lightweight battle Rolando Cespedes (3-1) from Fight Syndicate in Las Vegas, Nevada battles Terry Nichol (2-2) of MMA University in Calgary. Cespedes has won all 3 of his fights by stoppage and his lone loss was via decision. Cespedes comes from a strong camp and trains with some of the best fighters in the world. Look for Cespedes to come out aggressive in the opening bell and take the fight to Nichol. Nichol looks to bounce back in this fight after dropping two straight. Nichol is a gamer and none of his fights have ever gone to decision because he chooses to fight with a high risk-high reward Don't blink when these two 155 lb fighters lock horns.
Pat Gionette (1-2) from Independent in Mississauga takes on Josh Griffin (2-2) from PMA Karate in Calgary in a middleweight tilt. Gionette has never been out of the second round and loves to throw punches in bunches. Look for Gionette to come out swinging and not stop until somebody gets knocked out. Griffin is just as eager to bring the fight as none of his fights have ever gone to decision either. Griffin is a grappler who goes for transition after transition which usually sets up space to pull off submissions for either him or his opponent. This fight looks to be an early candidate for fight of the night.
Former multi division amateur title holder Devon Smith (0-0) of Prestige Worldwide in La Ronge makes his pro debut at middleweight against Justin Schmit (1-1) of MMA University in Calgary. Smith jumped weight classes regularly fighting at both heavyweight and light heavyweight but has now settled in at 185 lb, making him even more dangerous in the division. All of his amateur wins came via stoppage or submission. Power in both hands, Smith loves to bring the action to his opponent and can always be found in the center of the cage ready to trade strikes. Smith is known around Canada for chopping down huge opponents in the cage. Schmit won his last fight via TKO and has proven an ability to hurt just about anyone he faces with his fists. Schmit must be careful if the fight hits the mat as that is where Smith is dangerous. Look for Schmit to keep his distance and try to score on the outside with combos.

Shamrock Events comes to GFL.tv with "Kings of Kombat 12" a top notch kickboxing event in front of a rabid crowd at Dandenong Stadium in Australia. "Kings of Kombat 12" takes place on April 26 and this Australian event is sure to turn heads across the globe.In the main event, Steve Moxon battles Brad Riddell. Moxon is a feared striker because of his accuracy and ability to mix up his attacks that keep his opponents on the defensive. Moxon loves to keep a safe distance and does this with devastating leg kicks. Will he be able to connect early and often? Riddell is a gritty fighter who can easily take one to give one. Riddell is looking to knock off the champion and to do that he will have to either stay busier in the ring or more likely put Moxon down for the count. Expect fireworks from these two world class strikers.
Also scheduled is an 8-man tournament that will showcase amazing fights and crown one winner. Wayne Nicholls, Jake Gathercole, Daniel Soeurream, Dinesh Kanth, Chase Haley, Martin Tchong, Bentley Shefford and Paolo Riccardi. The winner of the tourney will need to win three fights in one night so you can expect these fighters to be looking for a quick, devastating knockout in the early rounds so that they can stay fresh for the future matchups. Whoever wins this tourney will not only be pushed to their physical limit but will also have to have an iron will and a granite jaw to sustain the punishment that they are sure to receive.
