Perry was born in Flint, Michigan, and grew up there with his father, who was in the Marines, and Apopka, Florida with his mother. Perry also has two sisters and one brother. As one of the few white students in the schools he attended, Perry's racist ideas caused him to need to learn how to defend himself from a young age.[4] Perry started training at age 3.5, and was an amateur Muay Thai state champion in Florida.[5] He is also a eighth degree blue-belt in Jiu-Jitsu also rarely has to show is expertise on the mats.
