Basically Luke's take: Cyborg is a draw. Cyborg needs to get healthy, that she went through extraordinary lengths to make 140, that she should have been the first to fight in the 145 division. However, WWE-IMG/UFC has a lot of debt and has to make money on their Feb PPV and couldn't wait for Cyborg.
Shouldn't claim Cyborg is juicing based on eyeball test, as that is a judgment that USADA is not working. Need to let USADA play its role.
What he didn't say is, what I think is, now that she has nearly died at 140, Cyborg should stop calling out Ronda to fight at 145. It's Ronda's choice whether to fight at 135 or 145. Cyborg should respect that Ronda is a natural 135, that she herself, is a natural 145. It's not fair for Ronda to give her that much advantage.
Going to have a listen. To date I have disagreed with his take because there never seems to be much onus on Cris to manage her mass outside of camp. He seems to take the stance that it is a joke to think she could simply lose the muscle. He doesn't discuss that she has added at least 10 poinds to her frame since being signed by Zuffa.
The simply truth is Cris is as big and muscular as she is because she choses to be. If her goal was to evwr get down to the size of a large muscular 135er she could have. Muscle has to be fed and stimulated to be maintained. Anybody who has ever added 10 pounds of quality muscle know it takes work to keep it.
I wish someone would actually have a debate with Luke on this. He scoffs at the notion it is some conspiracy theory to have her drop mass. The simple question he needs to answer is if he thinks her muscle is permanent and if he thinks the mass she has gained since signing with Zuffa are a factor in her deathly weight cuts.
Maybe she has a permanently bigger frame after steroid use.
We only know that recently, cutting to 140 was "not healthy" for her.
I agree with you - good point, Luke did not discuss whether she was starting with too much muscle and weight between camps.
I don't think anyone who is a natural 135 should fight her.
It could be her frame is permanently changed. My issue is after she was caught and then returning to MMA, Tito had his press conference and she was 163 I think or somewhere around it. Now she is well over 170 and more ripped. That wasn't from steroids she took before she was caught.
That is what Luke never addresses. She has gotten bigger while "trying" to make 135.
yea, Tito had her weigh in at 163 at the presser and explained that was her walking weight, less than a year later she posted on IG a pic of her running in Thailand with absolutely shredded abs saying she was somehwere in the high 170's
I remember that pic, but she hasn't been caught by USADA.
So that's why a fighter shouldn't accept a fight with her in Brazil.
I think for Cris the fights in Brazil are most likely nothing to do with doping.
It has more to do with advantage Brqzilians have fighting at home. She may live and train in Ca but she feels calm in Brazil. The food, the weather, the fans and whatever else foreign fighters deal with.
The other is she is a big draw there. It helps her brand to be where she has the biggest following. She is an avg draw in the US but major draw in Brazil.
I think Luke is awesome but he has a deep hatred towards Dana. I'll still listen because I respect him a hell of a lot.
Remember when Luke made that fighter pay video? That really fucked him from getting back on Danas good side.
link to that please
Can someone help me find this? I've looked on YouTube for 20 minutes, it came out like 2 years ago, I can't even remember the feature fighter but I'm pretty sure he's from Canada.
Dana shit hard on him and the video after it was released.

feels calm in Brazil? you ever see her fight week video blogs?
Who is more relaxed and more advantaged in Brazil, Cris or her would be nom Brazilian Opponent?
Video blogs showing her doing things does not mean she isn't happy doing them. Doesn't mean she doesn't have an advantage over a foreign opponent. There is a reason Brazilians typically do well in Brazil when fighting non Brazilians. There is a reason it is a big deal when a Non Brazilian beats a Brazilian in Brazil.
