LytesOut Career Deep Dive " Igor Zinoviev "

Zinoviev’s first sanctioned mixed martial arts fight was at the inaugural World Extreme Fighting event in 1995 in Wilmington, North Carolina, where he defeated Mario Sperry via cut stoppage to claim the organization’s middleweight title, a title he held until the organization’s dissolution in 1998. He also fought in Vale Tudo Japan, defeating Enson Inoue. Zinoviev’s final mixed martial arts bout (to date) was against Frank Shamrock at UFC 16. 22 seconds into the match, Shamrock took Zinoviev down with a powerful slam that knocked him unconscious and broke his collarbone, finishing his fighting career. Since that time, he has worked as a personal trainer and bodyguard.

It’s a shame Frank essentially ended his career. There were definitely some fun fights out there for him if he didn’t have to stop fighting after that one.

Perretti is landing us interviews for fighters that are impossible for us to get

He settles in really good on this one

Igor doesn’t shy away from any hard questions

He also addresses Epstein who he body-guarded for 7 years

  • I didn’t follow up or really care to

What are the chances he can get you guys Harold Howard?

Is that a name that has made your list of wanted deep dives?

Those old school Karate guys are so tough, he would be an interesting interview for many reasons lolllll

Fuck… I forgot about your Vale question

I will talk to him next week

Harold Howard, I got into contact with an old student of him, he said that he was alive but didn’t feel comfortable connecting us.

If anyone has a lead on him, I will fly there in person for that opportunity

Didn’t feel comfortable? Interesting?? Like Harold would snap if asked??

Between Karate and Japanese Jujutsu Harold was very accomplished in martial arts prior to his UFC run.

The conditioning those old school karate guys would go through is just insane. Tough tough guys those old school karatekas were, they don’t really make them like that anymore.
