Paging Dr. Newton, Dr. Newton please report to the PRIDE entrance rampā¦
I cannot wait to get outta work and listen to this.
Now Peretti is claiming Eddie Bravo is ducking an interview with him.
Listening now. I was not prepared for the grey dreads. He looks wise lol and has a lot of miles and life experience for still being only 47 years old. I was going to guess mid 50s by now but he started so young. Such a unique pioneer and Legend this should be good.
Carlos āThe Fighting Figā Newton. He was probably my favorite fighter of his era along with Bustamante. Both got screwed over by the UFC in a number of ways. I always wanted to see Newton rematch Henderson in Pride. No idea how it would have turned out but that was a fight that deserved a rematch.
Wellā¦ Bravo talks about the UFC dark era A LOT on his podcast
Igor Zinoviev is someone that Eddie brings up once a month
In our Zinoviev interview, Eddie gets brought up
Cannot wait. I really loved the Mario Sperry episode.
The only reason for me to go to Ontario would be to train with the legend at his gym.
As long as thereās no eye contact
āNothing hits harder than the ground.ā
lol
Great podcast, that was a fun listen.
Interesting dude
Feels like their could maybe be a part 2 to cover more stuff
6 buses with 6 guys each LoL
Sounds like crazy talk, but he is one guy I could actually see just tearing a group of guys a new one with finishing move after finishing move. Highly trained with elite speed, explosion, and strength is a rare rare combo.
Just heard this a minute ago before coming to the thread.
Rolling with Mark Bocek and Claude Patrick!!
No doubt.
Bocek in particular I remember sitting down watching MMA connected with Showdown Joe Ferraro and I was stunned when he made the news that Bocek retired.
He was only 30 or so?
Guy fought RDA, Bendo, Frankie Edgar etc.
His UFC run was great. Hopefully Carlos hooked you up with their contacts and we see them sooner then laterā¦or John Alessio or Joe Doerkson lol
Kinda gotta pry Carlos a bit for info on his fights lol. He didnāt delve into the Menne fight at all. That was a big tournament that Dave ultimately won would have been cool to hear more about that experience.
Otherwise this was a great interview.
Carlos still has so much fight in him but heās directed it towards the MMAFA now.
Newton is one of my faves!
Newton x Pele has all elements of what makes MMA great.
Have you listened yet? His story on getting stabbed sounded like enough action to make road house a boring ass flick.
And he still flew to Japan to be at the card he missed. To show the promoters and his opponent like hey see guys, I was stabbed Iām not bailing out / ducking.
The Ronin.
Need part 2
