LytesOut: "John Peretti" Extreme Fighting Battlecade

John Perretti is largely attributed as coining the phrase “Mixed Martial Arts”. In this episode we dive into his first event Extreme Fighting Battlecade.
John Perretti is joined by Igor Zinoviev and we recall an event that we consider to be the start of the “Modern Era” of Mixed Martial Arts.
This episode is full of gems and highlights why we love John Peretti as a guest.

Former UFC Matchmaker John Perretti joins us in order to discuss the Contenders Grappling Event and its impact on modern Jiu Jitsu.

John Perretti addresses a lot of the rumors and backstage issues during his tenure with the UFC and does NOT sugarcoat what took place. Perretti is a man that has been scrubbed from the UFC’s history books and in this interview you will find out why.

John Perretti, a man that deserves to be in the UFC Hall of Fame

Sergio is helping me balance between the intensity of John P and the more laid back delivery of Sergio.

I am incorporating phrases picked up from both.

We got a guy that helps fact check in real time to help the interviews

He jumps in at the end with a killer quote

Perretti is on fire at various points

Had you let me know you were doing this I could have contributed a great question.

Wait wait----- hold on time out.

Edit to add I hope anyone reading knows the above is light hearted.

I probably have just missed this and maybe need to listen a little closer.

Maybe you addressed it at the start of the show in the exchange where John P said he does not understand the question.

I was driving during this sequence and only listening ( built in excuse but yes I want to go back and watch this part).

It seems you were trying to address it but not head on ?

Is the idea that John P and the Donald Zuckerman crew working on a mixed rules fighting contest prior to UFC 1 ?—this is the question I would like asked.

John P, Donald Zuckerman and group were they trying to pull off a show prior to UFC 1?

I get the part about the backers/ investors but am unclear on the timing.

Or was it after seeing UFC 1 knew they could do something better ?

I have more thoughts on this but kind of bouncing around.
