Machida: I will be champion again

Machida by TKO Phone Post

I just hope they bring in Rashad again after Jones knocks out Machodo.

Machida by KO.

Jones is a young attribute fighter who depends on his physical abilities to get over his opponents. Every victory he has had so far can be rationalized by saying well he was faster, stronger, longer reach, etc etc. Lyotos style was developed to specifically counter those exact same attributes.

Jones will rush in, get tricked by Lyotos footwork, and get knocked out.

I totally agree. Jones gets away with a lot because of his reach. He also has suspect cardio which I noticed against Shogun. People forget that Machida can fight the "Smart Fight" keep distance and out point him. Jones isn't fast, he just has good reach. He isn't strong either, who has he KOed standing. Stephan Bonnar took him the distance. Someone needs to chop down those skinny ass legs of his to, it would mess him up a lot. IDK why Shogun didn't do it he had the opportunity and he has some of the best kicks in the division. Also people forget that Machida has fought at Heavy Weight so Jone's reach isn't that foreign to Machida. I'm gonna go with Machida by decision.

RickMartelsArrogance - Lyoto will be Jon's first opponent since Bonnar who wasn't mentally beaten before the fight began.

training with Silva so much will prevent the "deer in the headlights" for Machida at least. I don't think that's been talked about enough as it should be.

Machida will run just like he does in all his fights, he wont be able to keep the distance he likes because Jones will be able to reach him, a foot of difference in reach, Jones beats him Standing, Jones beats him in the clinch, Jones pounds him out on the Mat. Bigger,Faster,Stronger, Better, it wins fights. You will boo Machida for his efforts, He is beaten already, he knows it, you will see. This fight lasts only as long as he runs, and he will, totally outclassed, dude got knocked silly by Shogun, he is soft!

Pretty much. Lyoto has one in a million chance against the far-superior BONES JONES

If Machida settles and finds his range / distancing, he can win it. Guys like Machida and Silva are all about timing, distance and range, once they have that figured out, they're able to work from different angles and connect. Phone Post

That is a good point. The one thing that worries me is that Jones strength is messing with peoples range.

I'm rooting for Machida and I'm hoping for a knock-out. Machida is the no.1 knock-out artist in the top-tier LHW division.

Your an idiot Phone Post

ANT_P1989 - The thing with Lyoto's straight left counter is that against an 84.5" reach opponent it's hard to land a power counter because his left hand is further back than his right hand, due to the Southpaw stance. Lyoto's best bet is to use kicks, angles, and setup the punches by making Long Bones think. <img src="/images/phone/apple.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>

LOL @ zero actual fight dynamic knowledge.

I find it hilarious how people with no or little actual experience takes on themselves to explain how fighting works.

Well, here's a short and consise lesson for you:
You power hand(rear hand), is the one with with the most reach no matter which stance you have.

The jab, or leading hand, indicates that you rear hand will land about one fist further away when you pivot en rotate around when punching.

hope this shed some light.

It's nice to see some fans know about fight tactics and strategy Phone Post

I hope Machida has been training with Anderson.

He mentions something along the lines that it would be great if Anderson came over to train with him but due to his crazy work schedule it might be difficult.

Machida and Silva sparring. I would love to see that shit!

warheart209 - Machidas gonna get put to sleep. nobody can contend with 84.5 inch reach dudes reach makes klitscko's look like shawn sherk's.

When was the last time jones put anyone to sleep? And you think he's gonna suddenly do it with machida? Lololol Phone Post

Lol I know how punching works, and OF COURSE your rear hand has more reach WHEN FULLY EXTENDED on a STRAIGHT punch....BUT because the REAR HAND is FURTHER back it's EASIER to see coming, and HARDER to land on an opponent, hence why there's really no such thing as a RIGHT hook on a conventional stance and not really a such thing as a left hook from a southpaw stance, due to the rear hand being FURTHER away and easier to counter....When you're fighting an opponent who's got an 84.5 inch reach, I HIGHLY doubt you'd be looking for rear handed punches unless they're setup perfectly, even then it's still gonna be hell trying to land them.... Jones gonna SPANK DAT ASS

I just dont see Machida being able to deal with Jones length, size, strength and wrestling.

Then put your money where your mouth is and make a 1 to one billion bet. Should be easy money according to your logic Phone Post

Machida is doomed.

Sure the styles will create some pretty good fire works, but Machida is not the secret fist-shaped kryptonite you nad grippers want him to be.

First, Jones had a big test in fighting Shogun - then the LHW champion after having knocked Machida senseless.

Keep in mind that Machida fought Rua twice, and only took him to a decision the first time, and showed no improvement the second time.

Jones crushed Rua for the entirety of their fight.

Now Shogun has a cardio problem so maybe if he had Machida's gas tank then he could have gone to a decision with jones, but that isn't what happened and he would have lost that decision regardless.

Machida and Jones have both also fought Jackson. the different is that Jones finished Jackson, utterly dominating every aspect of the fight, whereas Machida lost a decision that should have probably gone his way.

Jones finished Jackson and Rua, Machida lost to one, beat the other, then got KO'd by the same guy in a rematch.

Now I know that Karate is a foreign sounding thing, so the more ignorant amongst us will be confused by its almost mystical sounding name, but there are no unicorns, a karate fist is still just a fist, and when Jon Jones gets finished picking Dragon bits from the creases of his gloves, Machida will being doing keg stands at a urinal to get his strength back up.

forget about this joker, still thinks he knows better than the fighters.

Exhibit A of denialist/delusional post.

Yeah he only wins fight because of "reach" not timing or technique... just 'reach'.

Yeah he is so slow people just let him tee off on them because he's so ....... slow...

Yeah Shogun shoulda kicked him.... except for the fact he was getting his ass kicked

lol?
