Matt Furey="Master of Catch"???

I saw a book today at B&N titled "Grappling Masters" and it was a compilation of bios on bjjr's, sambist, submission grapplers, etc.

Anyway, Matt Furey made it in the book as the "Master of Catch Wrestling".

How the HELL did that happen?

Furey is the foremost expert on the almost forgotten art of catch in the world these days. He went and found all the old carnies in nursing homes and wheeled them to the mat and told them to teach him the lost secrets.

He is now qualified to travel with sideshows and challenge locals from the town to a wrestling match. I hear he doubles for the bearded lady from time to time as well.

He trained with the ghost of Farmer Burns for God's sake!

LOL@Redneck.

Talking to the Ghost of Farmer Burns was enough for me.

Tubcutter, everything I said was true. Well im not sure about the bearded lady thing but everything else was fairly accurate. pulsar is correct, if this guy claims to channel the spirit of farmer burns then what the hell can I say to hurt his credibility?

No spladdel, I just said it for the hell of it.

Matt is now a sponsor of MMA.TV, which I find ironic after the years of abuse his name has taken at this place.

I was disappointed that Tony Cechinne wasn't included in the book. I thought it was the utmost insult to label Furey as the "Master of Catch", and not even mention Tony.

Wasn't this the same Matt Furey that punched a Steve Maxwell purple belt in the face when he was caught in a triangle and couldn't escape?

Tony Ceccine is a much better representative of catchwrestling than Furey is. Furey comes off as a whack-job (especially given his claims as to learning from his teacher's teacher's ghost. Anyone see "No Retreat No Surrender?).

With that said, the one Furey product I have benefitted from is the Handstand Pushups tape. That tape took me from "can't hold myself upside-down with a wall and someone holding my feet" to "touch my head 3 times, holding straight up and down against the wall" within a couple weeks.

It's good to see an old timer like redneck remember the Furey Files bullshit. If I remember correctly, the bearded lady thing is 100% spot on. The "black" mugger and using his mother in law as bait is a little fuzzy...could you remind me.
