McGregor Still ‘jealous’ of Khabib’s Success

Money can buy you a Lamborghini super yacht, among other things.

But being rich is not the same as being champion, respected by fans and peers for a body of work that some consider to be the best the lightweight division has ever seen. That’s why Conor McGregor is still hating on retired UFC titleholder Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Getting choked into submission at UFC 229 probably didn’t help matters, either.

“He’ll never not do that, ever,” retired UFC welterweight, Ben Askren, said on YouTube. “He’s going to be 80 years-old attacking Khabib. Because he’s jealous, of course. He’s got all the money in the world. What he wanted to be was the most respected fighting champion on planet Earth. No money can make up for that. That’s what Khabib is. Khabib is a fighting champion that everyone has a deep amount of respect for because of the way he lived his life and Conor wishes he had that much respect for himself.”

McGregor is still considered one of the promotion’s most “disrespectful” fighters.
Nurmagomedov, 35, retired with an undefeated of 29-0 and was recently inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. McGregor, also 35, has a losing record in the lightweight division (1-3) and currently stands at 29-6, having been finished in all six of his professional losses.

“Notorious” returns against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29 in Las Vegas.
