McGregor Tells Chandler Fight ‘For Sure’ Happening in 2024 After Speaking to Dana

Conor McGregor is saying all the right things to Michael Chandler in regards to the UFC re-booking their matchup. Whether or not it’s true is another story.

McGregor’s long-awaited return to action after nearly three years on the shelf was set for the main event of UFC 303 this past June. An injury forced McGregor out of the fight, which has led to numerous questions about the futures of both fighters as 2024 progresses into its second half.

On Saturday, McGregor sent Chandler some positive news in regards to their matchup, saying he had a conversation with UFC CEO Dana White and that it will definitely happen before the year is over.

“I talked to Dana today about our new date, all looking good,” McGregor told Chandler on Twitter. “[2024] for sure.”

Chandler, as expected, is satisfied with this update.

Chandler has been on the sidelines for quite some time himself, as his next fight will be his first since being submitted by Dustin Poirier at UFC 281 in November 2022.

Does anybody even care about this fight? I didn’t before and I certainly don’t now.

Chandler is a guy who if you lose to, you’re probably on your way down or are not too level anyway. He was an up and down fighter in the b leagues, he’s still the guy who went life and death with Eddie Alvarez, who might be the worst modern UFC 155 champ by a landslide, went life and death with the ghost of Bendo, and guys like Primus and Will Brooks.

He’s exciting at times, but if he somehow won the title tomorrow, you’d just expect him to lose his next fight.

His only UFC wins are Tony Ferguson who can barely move and Dan Hooker, b or c level 155er who’s mostly there for exciting fights and to make other guys look good coming up. He lost to every higher level ufc 155 guy so far

This holding out for McGreggor thing is ridiculous

You just stated a whole bunch of reasons why holding out for McGregor is the right move.

Not really. He’s going to likely get blasted out of there and in the mean time he’s letting his name slide.
