Media Company Set to Surpass UFC

"A new company has arrived that looks like it will soon rival and perhaps surpass the UFC in MMA media content. The company's Director of Business Development is Ken Pavia and he was kind enough to take time to answer a few questions about Takedown Entertainment's path forward." -InvestinMMA.com

I did a story on Takedown MMA not too long ago, complete with quotes from Pavia and Matt Lindland. Here's the link if you care to read it: http://fiveouncesofpain.com/2011/11/18/the-skinny-on-takedown-mma/

Anyway, I'm definitely skeptical about the whole thing. There's no way it'll surpass the UFC and they seem to be putting all their eggs into the TV basket, which is a tough way to survive in MMA.

Another fucking company starting off with the  goal of topping the UFC. Here's a fun fact : ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Unless the UFC somehow implodes upon itself like Pride did, then people need to get used to the idea of being a distant #2. Bellator seems to have realized that, and they've been successful because of it. Stop making these grandiose statements when you start a fight org, because you will not be able to back them up. Especially if your name is Ken Pavia.

Specifically the "sign over your TV rights to me on faith" TV basket

It's like Pro Elite, except with no money to buy the promotions before they kill them

WAMMAtacular

Well to be devil's advocate, they only claim that they may surpass the UFC in media content. If they sign on 60 small promotions that each do two or three fights a year, they will easily amass a library that will dwarf the UFC in sheer volume.

This doesn't address quality or value but they could amass a huge library.

Is this the one Todd Duffee signed to? He said in his thread he has signed to a new org that will be making its debut soon.

Takedown isn't a fight organization, they just film regional shows and attempt to distribute them for broadcast.

That quote is out of context. TKDN could soon have more content. That means more archived events. It does not speak to surpassing the UFC in any other way but having a deeper library. That is not an unreasonable statement. The UFC owns 141 events, plus Pride, WEC, and the WFA libraries. That is not as many as one may think.

KenP - UFC owns 141 events...

just a shot in the dark but i believe UFC also owns rights to its utlimate ultimates, ultimate fighter episodes, ultimate finales, ultimate fight nights, et al

Seriously ken p and matt lindland...hell of a roster to do business with smh... Phone Post
