MMA stance?

What would you guys say is, generally speak, the best, basic MMA fighting stance to use a starting point for the develop of a stance that helps to maximize ones strengths and attributes and minimize one's weaknesses? And if it is difficult to describe such a stance in words, which fighters seem to exhibit the use of such a stance?

Personally I think that the stance employed by GSP, as a poster in the JKD forum by the name of 4 Ranges once said in a rather long thread entitled "Boxing=Bad MMA stand-up", is or should be, more or less, the basic, fundamental, MMA stance. It seems to be one from which one can easily utilize all sorts of strikes as long range, easily transition into a more "boxing-like" stance where one can sit down on their punches, as well as for going for the takedown (although I'm not sure how much of his ability to transition from such an upright stance into lower-body takedowns
such as double and single legs is due to his extreme athleticism as opposed to what the stance affords him).

What do you guys think?

staggered stance, hips knees and feet squared up to opponent. Knees bent, chin down, hands up and in. Ding ding.

How about weight distribution Bull_in_chinashop?

depends on the range. thai stance if farther out, boxing stance when in boxing range.

I would disagree. boxing stance is far too bladed for MMA and imho, a sure way to get shot on.

weight? basic motion is 50/50 but the reality is that what techniques you're doing dictate where your weight is. ex. throwing a rear roundhouse kick vs. throwing a left hook.

focus on being smooth and flowing and maintaining balance at all times. never too tall never too low etc.

Which fighers best epitomize the stance that you are talking about Bull?
