Mousasi on last fight of UFC contract

Per Luke Thomas on Twitter. UFC 210 against Chris Weidman is Mousasi's last on his current deal. If Gegard were to go to Bellator, that would be a huge add for them, especially if he's coming off a win and at peak value.

Cant see UFC letting him go if he beats Weidman on a big card.

Fuckin' tight wads better not fuck this one up..

I couldn't see how they let Larkin go when they did. He's just hitting his prime and looking like a potential star. Not saying Gegard is a goner but who knows with the way things are going.

I guess it depends on how much Mousasi demands. If Coker scoops him up it would be another huge coup.

Moose Saucy isn't a big get.  The guy is great, and top 10 bit his big fans are in Europe who don't register on Spikes radar.  Gerard won't bring in viewers.  Outside of MMA forums, nodody knows who he is.  Hardcore fans don't sell PPV or increase ratings despite what you want to believe.

Same applies to the UFC, he is not good on the mic, he is the slient guy and not a conor guy. i don't see him ever getting a shot at the title.

gaurentee he walks if they dont give him a title shot or a SIGNIFICANT pay bump. he isnt a dumb up and coming kid who can afford to fight for peanuts to get his name out there, he has like 50 fights most wins by finish in his entire division yet they have made no effort into bringing him to a level that they can even sell a card that he headlines. at this point i think the ufcs roster realize the UFC isnt the shangri la of MMA and the other options out there are simply more practical than expecting to turn there fighting career into some rousey/mcgregor cinderella story.

Not true. This is the same line the UFC uses to lowball fighters when it comes contract time. Plenty of people know who Mousasi is, and with even just a little push, he could be the next big thing.

Gegard is taking the best offer that's for sure. He's not gonna give UFC a hometeam discount he's fought in a ton of orgs all around the world he knows how this business works. 1 of the most talented guys in the world I hope he can show it v Weidman.

You say that as if he actually has the option for better opportunities elsewhere.  How much is he even getting paid right now?

This was his disclosed payout when he rematched Uriah Hall in November:

Gegard Mousasi -- $140,000 ($85,000 to show, $45,000 win bonus, $10,000 Reebok sponsorship)

I actually think if he re-signs with the UFC only if he wins against Wiedman and title shot is his first fight

He seems to want the belt imo

He invested his earnings wisely in real estate rentals and says he could have stopped fighting years ago
