If strikeforce had elbows fight would of been over alot sooner.
Much respect. For a 47 year old rookie to the sport he didn't do bad at all.
I wouldn't mind seeing walker fight again.
stfu about guys who deserve chance.. yes there is alot but they are no names.
Tell them to go play in the nfl.. and join an olympic team
PiousDevil -ez - He looks horrible!Atleast for a pro fighter. As a nearly 50 yr old man OK at best.
Seriously? he's raping dude. I mean he has a weird stiff style, but he looks far from horrible.
He looked good for a fifty year old but his opponent was 1-1 against nobodies. It was a good intro fight but lets see him fight someone that was or could be contender material, and soon. Walker hasn't got much time left in him.
ez - Guys i just got back from a fight,as a matter of fact im at some event nearly every weekend. For an old man i respect him but as a coach/school owner in a sport that only a few could ever survive off the $.I hate to see someone like this get TV time when theres so many deseving guys out there.Guys that get fired if they take time off to train.Guys that have to quit fighting because they have children to feed. He's probably a great guy but any of you that says he looked good enough to be on a show this size, you need to find a quality gym and start training.
No one cares what you think.
Perhaps you are jealous because Herschel is famous and successful? People who have never watched MMA tuned in to see a world class athlete compete.
Go ahead and start a I hate Herschel Walker thread of your own. kthxbai.
SpiderRicco - He looks good for a 47 y/o man with 4 months training.
Thats it,NO-ONE w/ 4 months traing should be fighting on a show of this caliber.
How about Herschel vs. Bo Jackson? Two athletic freaks 20 years past their primes. Also two of my favorite athletes ever.

He is bringing a new fan base to the sport. Do you not want the sport to grow? He is a college and pro football legend. Brock Lesnar fought only once before stepping foot in the UFC. Tell him he doesn't belong on a card like this after only four months training.
STFU & GTFO!
Good for him for giving props to Harvey Mendez....

I think there's more to it than just allowing a NOOB to fight, of course it's Herschel Walker. $$$$
this is to be expected for a first fight.
guys that have fought can relate. when you train at the gym, your a lot more calm and relax BUT when that first fight comes SOME guys get a big adrenaline dump and all that training goes out the door.
eventually after a few more fights, that adrenaline dump wont be so big and some of that training will come through.
give herschel 4-5 more fights then we can judge. if he hasnt shown some of the training he has learned from AKA then maybe he should hang it up.
ez is butthurt

Or maybe you need to take some business classes. Walker sold a lot of tickets, generated a lot of intrerest, and he was good enough to beat the guy they put in front of him. That's exactly what it takes to get on a major card. A sporting event is entertainment, we're not curing cancer.
SpiderRicco - He looks good for a 47 y/o man with 4 months training.
Based on those 2 points, I would argue that hes a GREAT fucking fighter. Despite those he looked very capable in there.
Walker was in that ring to test himself as an athlete not as a ego driven attention whore. I respect the man, the fact he donated his purse and lastly he is bringing attention to Strikeforce which is good for MMA. The bitching and whining is out of control here
very humble and a great ambassador.
obviously he fought a can. hopefully they'll ladder him into some more competitive fights.

this. really, until we see olympic MMA, or collegiate MMA leagues, it is primarily entertainment, and will be booked, promoted, and sold as entertainment.
the pride of nations, cultures, etc aren't riding on fighters performances here...put simply, its a product...and more often than not celebrities/big personalities will take precedence and billing over any number of skilled no names in the interest of entertainment and profit.
this is why MMA needs to be an Olypic sport to seperate entertainment
jmcc445 - Gladiator I understand what u r saying but it is BS when this fight bumps Riggs vs Hieron.
I'd rather watch Herschel Walker fight personally. And I think Gannon 'gets it' that shows are a business and are about making money.
Herschel Walker generates more revenue for Strikeforce than the guys who 'deserve a chance'. When a promotion makes money they can do more shows and give far more guys a shot over time than filling a whole card once with 'guys who deserve a shot', losing money, and never doing another show.
