3 wins for 1st place. I am mad at myself for not stopping the armbar before the kid got injured. The KARATE refs are going to get someone permantly hurt.

Wow. That was terrible. And LOL at wearing your Karate red/black belt while you ref. Adds legitimacy to reffing credentials.

He just received his intermediate gray/yellow.

I signed up in the advanced division. They had 3ft tall 56lbs kids going against 5ft tall 100lbs kids.

We had to tell them to stop and bring all the kids on the mat to match them up as best as possible. Know one there could make a bracket!

We were happy just to be done never to return.

I dont think there was any other kids there signed up in advanced. I have never been offered my money back if there wasnt enough to fill a bracket. Once they get your money they dont care who your matched with. Pathetic!

Didn't know Cecil peoples reffed jiu jitsu tournaments too... Phone Post

I was at the Arnolds this weekend.

Did you see the stick fighting?  That shit was hilarious!

Congrats go to your son for taking 1st.

Holy shit @ those refs!  Terrible!

 I agree.

Just to clarify, the kids arm wasnt broken. He did continue to fight other matches.

Both opponents were skilled and made good matches. I still question allowing armbars/chokes at this level? If you are then the ref has to recognise when one of them is in trouble and stop the matches to prevent injury. Your son has very good flow in his moves/submissions. Keeps being aggressive in a control manner.

This is the ONLY time in 4 yrs that a non bjj person was reffing a bjj tournament we attended. At a legitimate tournament the ref stops the match immeadiately when the submission is applied  tap or not for kids 9-12. NO submissions 8 and under.

Thanks for the compliments. My son has a top shelf instructor, Helio Soneca. He also is a full time wrestler.

Thanks, Now I understand where he gets his good flow and continuous attack comes from (wrestling). This is a hugh advantage as kids that age can only manage to defend a few good attacks and end of in a defenseless postition. And the instructor can submissions to his grappling talents.
