My view on Aldo Mcgregor

This fight is insanely interesting, its not very often we have a title fight with such a dominant champ where the odds are so close and the fans are split down the middle like they are leading up to this one.

Its a perfect example of styles making fights, on paper this fight looks retarded.

Yet all fans even the educated ones are very excited, no one is really looking at this fight like a mismatch because we know the threat Connor is to literally anybody who stands with him.

He is so accurate and dangerous with his strikes, his straight left is a thing of beauty and IMO is going to be his biggest threat to Aldo in that fight.

Of course there is a chance Aldo exposes Mcgregor and is able to exploit the holes in Mcgregors style and completely destroy him but we just dont know and thats why this fight is so great.

There is an unknown factor in this one, Mcgregor could be the next dominant champ or he could get swallowed by the top guys in the divison, we just dont know at this point

The biggest factor i think like i said is how Aldo deals with the straight left, because Aldo is orthodox and Connor is southpaw its going to make that straight left more of a threat during the fight and the angles Connor comes in at it makes it even more dangerous, if Mcgregor wins i see it being similar to the Poirier K.O. Where Mcgregor gets him behind the ear with a straight and is able to finish him early.

If Aldo wins i think we will see something similar to Rick Story vs Gunnar Nelson but maybe a little more dominant, Story really showed the biggest hole in that footwork based hands down style.

Once Gunnar started to slow down he became very easy to hit because he wasnt able to get out of reach if the punches as fast and his hands were naturally not covering his face

When facing someone like Aldo with those leg kicks slowing down is something that will for sure happen so i think Connor will have maybe 2 rounds to finish the fight before Aldo can take over.

I havnt been this pumped in a while. Phone Post 3.0

Agree 100%. What it all comes down to, and McGregor has done this excellently in his promos and all his talk, is we are emotionally invested in his sink or swim moment.

Want him to win or lose, people will be watching.

Then the fight itself, besides just seeing that, is the styles, as mentioned. These guys are both martial artists, both precise with their strikes, when both of them get momentum, its a thing of beauty. Now we have them both in one fight, and its going to be, hopefully, great. Phone Post 3.0

I'm just so ready for this card.

I took off the whole week for it.

It needs to get here. Phone Post 3.0

Baek Doo San - Agree with the whole stylistic match up that makes this match exciting.
Two elite strikers.
But whatever happens this fight. Connor is definitely not going to be the "next dominant champ"
Jose uses his elite grappling for defensive purposes to keep the fight on his feet where he can use his elite striking.
Connor doesn't have this and will lose against anyone in the division with descent striking and elite wrestling.
Mendes or Edgar won't be the next "dominant champs" either. Phone Post 3.0

Conor doesn't have elite striking? Wow! Anyone who thinks Aldo is the better striker has no clue about striking.

The question marks about Conor are his grappling because we have never really seen him with elite grapplers. If Aldo tries to strike with him it is lights out for him. Conor is not going to stand in front of him and trade muay thai style like everyone else. His striking and lateral movement is far superior to Aldos as good as Aldo is.

Having said that Aldos speed and leg kicks are his best weapons in this fight. Aldos grappling has never really been on display in all his years as champ so my bet is he is going to try and strike and will most likely lose.

So unless Conor can't deal with the speed and leg kicks. (which I think he can) its not looking to good for Aldo in my opinion.

Conor is the first guy in the UFC that is not afraid of Aldo and could care less about the mystique surrounding him. People do not realize who much of an advantage that is and its obvious it has rattled Aldo.

The other thing is those that think because Aldo is pissed he is going to kill Conor have no clue about elite fighting. The last thing you want to do is be angry and let you emotions cloud your judgment and everything else.

I think Aldo is better everywhere but I do believe Conor is worthy and this might be the first fight is a long rivalary where Conor might actually beat Aldo in the rematch. I hope it's a great fight. Aldo Tko 2nd rd. Phone Post 3.0

I dont get where all these striking experts get their inside knowledge on conor... He might win, but you cant determin his level of striking before he faces the elite, and with respect for poirier and siver they are not the elite... Phone Post 3.0

Did you type that with Conor's cock in your mouth and a potato up your ass? Phone Post 3.0

As a Conor fan, my 2 biggest worries are :

Aldo winning the fight with wrestling. We don't know how good Conor is on the ground, or at stuffing takedowns. Aldo is no joke when it comes to wresting, and it wouldn't surprise me if that was his gameplan.

Conor also keeps his chin high. Even in the fights he's dominated, like against Dustin, he still does get hit. I can see Aldo tagging him while Conor backs him up.

I still think Conor is a bad style for Aldo though, I just see him constantly backing Aldo up and landing big shots. Phone Post 3.0

I said he was an elite striker. That's how he wins all his fights.
What I said was he doesn't have elite grappling to keep it standing which is how Aldo has reigned supreme for so long.
So if he manages to get the belt off Aldo, he's going to lose it soon after to a elite wrestler such as Edgar who will take him down and control him effortlessly.

Also with your last comment about fighting angry. Everyone has a different level of optimum arousement. While there are fighters that perform better when zen like (fedor) there are others on the opposite end of the spectrum (mike Tyson, vanderlei). Most are somewhere in between.
Why have you jumped to the conclusion that Connor is so bad on the ground?

Just because you havnt seen his ground game doesnt mean he doesnt have one. Phone Post 3.0
