Seems to be an ongoing myth that Islam was the first fighter to follow Charles to the ground after dropping him. Chandler and Poirier both did as well. Gaethje didn’t.

Yes Beneil may be more of a threat submission wise in this scenario but both Chandler and Poirier are serious GNPers and we’re not able to capitalize.

Yes those are all fights he lost but in his recent streak people act like Chandler, Gaethje and Poirier all avoided the ground with him after dropping him, but only Gaethje did. The other guys just aren’t as good as Islam on the ground.
Chandler did a fight breakdown of his bout with Olivera… not even 24 hours later He’s never been submitted and didn’t fear giving up his back nor following Charles to the ground. And he was right. he even easily escaped the body triangle with Charles on his back. He got caught with a left hook standing.
Same for Dariush, he was never in danger on the ground. Still crazy good how Olivera evaded the “put my head between your legs for survival” move. And if anyone is rocked Olivera can sub him quick. But let’ s not act like most of the top guys would get subbed easily.
Not what I was saying. Chandler got out from back take fresh against Charles too. Just saying that Islam wasnt the only guy who followed Charles to the ground after hurting him.
