Need info about buying a Gi

buying my first gi. if the ug could let me know what to look for it would be appreciated. also any suggestions on any good brands or websites. thanks

thanks man, is there anyway i could have a link to that interview?

There is a brand new company that you should check out, its called WRONG FORUM ASSHOLE

thanks for the website im a real boy.

Personally I like Vulcan. They are light, durable and i prefer the way the collar is over some others. Never tried the WRONG FORUM ASSHOLE, but i heard they are getting old and needs to be more creative in their approach.

Well played sir.

You can't go wrong with a Vulcan or Koral MKM.

I LOVE my Sirius Gi. You just gotta wash on cold and air dry so it doesn't shrink.

 Atama is great . very solid, in the 150.00 range. I'm 6 2" and 245 and I wear a A3.

Good beginner gi's are Padilla Bros. and  Fuji Gi's. They run 79.00 or so.

I recommend getting the cheapest and crappiest gi possible. If you don't roll enough to already have an opinion on what to buy, then there is a good chance you will not be using your gi enough to justify the $100+ price tag.

I have a $100 gi and a $35 gi. The only difference I can really tell is that one has a stripe and the jacket isn't quite as long.

It would help if you put the cheap brand Generic ;-)

I'm not sure mine had a brand. I walked into a martial arts supply store, asked what the cheapest gi they had was. I think it was under $40, including tax.

Like my laptop. My laptop is a "Great Quality" laptop. That's the brand name. And so far, it has held up longer than my last one, which was a major name brand.

I don't believe in buying fancy shit unless you really have a reason for it. Every once in a while I get screwed by this philosophy, but in the long run it works out.

thanks for all the info guys

^150.00 plus shipping is too much for a first gi.

All of the gi's mentioned (except the TKD gi) would be good choices.  We also have a great gi that you might like.  You can see them at:
