Judo has almost 20 lb diff in weight classes?!

those are the weights in the tournament. Not usa judo

Thats still bad

 im competing

I walk around at 204 lbs. right now. You can bet if I was competing in that, I would drop 4 lbs. lol

It's grappling man. If you are a solid grappler, you shouldn't have any problems with the weight difference. If not then you should still have a good experience. It's not like were throwing ppl in there to fight Vale tudo under those weights. UFC has 15lbs weights, which is not much of a difference. Besides, this is the true test of submission skill. Laying and praying wont get you any wins. Only submissions and tap outs. I know this event is going to be good. And for only 35 for pre-reg with multiple guaranteed matches, you can't go wrong. And as we get larger, we will make necessary adjustments and changes to better this tournament. We have had a really good response to this event. NYC needs events like this. I promise that this event will be a good experience for all grapplers.

yeah 19 lbs of muscle isn't nearly enough to overcome technique (sarcasm). And about teh UFC having 15 lbs between each weight div, they have night before weigh ins. Except for maybe heavyweights, no one actually walks in at 155, 170, 185, etc. Somehow I dont think Naga and Gq are going to feel threatened

I'm coming!! And I'm bringing a few other folks

I generally weigh in the 146-152 range. Those weight classes are not so good for me.

i'll be there to liveblog and make fun of the competitors with cauliflower ears.

Sweet another Tourney far from the Midwest

I understand how you feel but this is something new that we are trying out. And i'm not actually competing against NAGA or GQ. Actually GQ is quiet supportive of this event. And I've only gotten a handful of ppl who don't like the weights. Everyone one else is pretty excited to have a NO GI tournament in NYC and don't mind. so for now that is how it is. Like i said, as we grow so will the number of divisions, skill levels...etc. Give us a chance before you slay us.

Peace

Hey, I'm not complaining, man. I'm just sayin' that if I were competing in this one, I'd def. drop the 4 pounds rather than compete at heavyweight. Mama didn't raise no fool! :)
