I canât think of anyone else who utterly manhandled prime Tank like that.
The way he threw Tank when Tank had the whizzer was pretty crazy lol I remember Vitor lighting him up but damn man throwing Tank around was not a common thing
Tank kinda fell himself there. You can definitely see that Tank was still physically much stronger when he went stood up from the initial fall. But Vitor was too fast and too agile.
shen - I actually remember seeing Vitor, right after he came to the U.S. He was this skinny kid (I think he was 17, but could be wrong) He was warming up a group kickboxing class at Redwood's Kickboxing (that used to be on Venice Blvd in L.A.). Someone told me "He's one of the Gracies." I was like, Oh, wow... OK.
Next time I saw him was his first walk out and I was like: WTF⌠thatâs the same human being???
Hold on Shen, youre implying that Vitor came to the US from Brazil and hulked out here? Thatâs wild, I just assumed he and Arona had the same dealer back home.
He was one of the scariest dudes on the planet, always exciting. When he had that push late in his carrier it was crazy to watch, they should have just let him stay on the sauce.
He had all the talent and ability to be the greatest mma fighter ever. Just a headcase sometimes
Sounds like an ordinary person with an extraordinary talent, Id say he did pretty well considering. He did manage to fight at a pretty high level for the better part of a quarter century, lets not kid ourselves how it would have been just so easy to do so much better.
Good post. With how much people talked about his lack of heart and fortitude, he made it surprisingly far for a REALLY long time. He showed he could get through adversity and came back after losses over and over again.
It goes to show how much he dedicated himself to training and just how talented he actually is/was.
In the goat discussion. Last guy I'd want to fight too! The fucking Jesus shit and the cross shaved into the his head somehow made him even scarier too, haha
Because nobody wants to fight a God-fearing man who is coming to put the fear of god in YOU.

Exactly. He was kind of a Lanky/trim guy. I never talked to him, but the guy I currently reach with,John Ouano (who made the gloves for the UFC) was training with Carlson Gracie, Vitor & all those guys in that backroom at Redwoods during that time.

Thanks for sharing. He was an absolute monster at 19.
