Not many title fights in 2019, trend to continue?

People say they don't like the Bellator FW GP because it is too slow but the FW title will be defended 4x in one year. Meanwhile in the UFC the titles are not being defended often at all in 2019. Will the trend continue?

Lets look at the men’s belts and title fights in 2019. Don’t need to pay attention to fake Int. titles, BMF titles, BMX titles, ABC titles or any of that crap, just real UFC belts, the kind Bustamante dumped in the trash on his way to PRIDE and they stole from BJ Penn who went off to fight whoever he wanted including Machida at HW.

So thus far in 2019 the UFC champs have averaged less than one single defense each weight class despite the fact we are entering the 4th quarter.

Lets say Stipe and Max defend in Dec and Whittaker defends. That brings the total to 10 for 2019.

UFC champs will average 1.25 title defenses for the year. Boring. At least the PFL and RIZIN GP champs will compete 3x in 3 months. Exciting. Structure and purpose behind those fights.

The Bellator FW GP is the best thing going in MMA today. The finalists will compete 4x in twelve months.

Final leg of the round of 16 goes down Sat at 10 pm ET, its the main event of MMA on Saturday, UFC in Denmark is the prelims.

Sad. And there's more divisions than ever.

Bellator, PFL, RIZIN, and ONE GP champs and many other tourny participants will have way higher activity levels than all ten UFC champs over the course of a year.

I can see an Esports company like RAZER or TWITCH acquiring the UFC in the next decade.

“Razer’s 2017 initial public offering raised $528 million, and ahead of it, Tan said he’d spend the money on more products”

“Twitch boasts a valuation of about US$3.79 billion”

Back to the topic of discussion. That’s what happens when you allow guys to get title shots without fighting in that division. GSP at 185, Cejudo at 135, Conor at 155. Now Tony Ferguson being blackballed and it’s 2020 and Ultimate Fighting Conor last won a fight in 2016.

Maybe ESPN will buy the UFC and make Ariel Helwani the new President.

Love it! Helwani for POTUFC 2021 !

So you want them to get paid more and fight more? If they are getting paid more, then they are not going to fight more. Take away PPV points for champs and watch how often they fight. You guys argue on both sides of the topic about everything. The UG is officially fucking stupid now.

Would you rather just make more interim fights?
