With Forrest and Paul

Hi Guys, How are you ? Thank you for doing this interview, your latest album has just come out and fans are delighted with it, you must be very proud ?
Paul: We are beyond proud of the new album...we feel that it is objectively one of the finest pieces of metal available for human consumption.
Forrest: Yeah. We're proud.
For those who have not yet had a chance to hear "The Splendour of Emptiness" , how would you describe it and the musical progression you have made to this point ?
Paul: The Splendour...is a mixture of everything we feel is good about heavy metal. Black metal influenced passages meet crushing doom, melodic bits, and a solid spirit of old-school rock and roll pervading the entire album. It's a big step forward for the band.
Forrest: We've grown in leaps and bounds and progressed exponentially into the insatiable god-kings of rock that we've become.
You have a wide range of influences within your work from The Sisters of Mercy to Type O Negative, who have inspired you the most as musicians and why?
Paul: I've been a huge Danzig fan since I was a little kid, as well as Type O Negative and alot of 80's rock. When I was a teenager, Forrest turned me on to black metal and doom, and from there I got hooked on bands like My Dying Bride, Immortal, Emperor, Enslaved, Funeral Mist, Deathspell Omega and so on...we like alot of different kinds of music from heavy metal to neo-folk and classical, so I couldn't really say that any one thing has influenced us more or less over the years.
Forrest: Probably my biggest influences are My Dying Bride, Opeth, Emperor, Shining, Bethlehem, Judas Iscariot, W.A.S.P. and Motley Crue. I really try not to wear influences on my sleeve...I'm looking for a unique sound.
With your music you have a strong message including sex, blood and intoxication, can you tell us more about the message in this album and why you think it is important to the world today ?
Paul: Sex, blood and intoxication should be important things in everyone's life. Or you're a cunt. The only message In Death I Become preaches is: Listen to In Death I Become.
Forrest: Sex and intoxication is in our blood.
You are currently working on a mini tour for your fans, can you tell us more about how this is coming along and if you plan on doing a further tour this year ?
Paul: I wasn't aware of a mini-tour planned, but, yeah, that sounds like a great idea. Are you interested in managing a band? Really, though, we play shows on a very selective basis. We are not a band that you can go out and see every weekend. Because you would die if you did.
Forrest: Right now, venues in the music industry have grown accustomed to fucking us over. A "mini-tour" at this point is very unlikely.
All of you are extremely committed to making music, and have developed a very loyal fan base, what is it about being in a band that you love so much ?
Paul: I hate being in a band, but I love being miserable. So I guess I love everything about being in this band. Our loyal fan base should be taking our advice more, by killing themselves with a strict regimen of alcohol poisoning and unprotected sex.
Forrest: I would like to quit, but people keep threatening to kill my loved ones if I do. It's fortunate for others that I only love myself.
The band is very politically minded and with the new presidential elections in USA gripping the entire world, what is your opinion on the current state of America and how does this effect your music?
Paul: We are not political at all. We could give a fuck about who runs this country...the current state of America is the same as the rest of the world. It's great, except for all the people. In Death I Become supports human depopulation of the natural environment by any means necessary.
Forrest: I don't think about the current stae of America, and it doesn't affect the music. At all.
With so much going on in your lives how do you balance all of your commitments and what do you do to relax ?
Paul: I balance all of my commitments by not being a lazy fuck. Relaxation is for people with no ambition...
Forrest: We're only commited to domination of the world. Relaxation is not conducive to domination.
What would you consider to be the most important piece of advice you could give to another band or musician ?
Paul: Kill yourself.
Forrest: Eat shit. Alot of it.
Finally do you have a special message for your fans and new fans reading this ?
Paul: If you listen to In Death I Become instead of religious leaders, politicians, school teachers, and pseudo-intellectual cunts, you might not be a whining bitch listening to every new scrap of hardcore/emo/flavor of the month bullshit. You might grow a pair, and live your life withou giving a fuck, like we do. Ladies, you might get lucky enough to give us a depressing blowjob in a truck stop bathroom. Or, you might just think we're a couple pretentious fucks. Either way, fuck you.
Forrest: Keep eating shit.
Thank you so much it is always a pleasure to talk to you, I wish you the best of luck with everything. Love Nocta xx
