Oleg Taktarov would have beat Royce. SAMBO and BJJ are the same art just developed in different parts of the world.
Rickson as great as he was on paper was untested against real (public) competition. Abdulmanap (Khabibâs dad) was a great coach. He may have been an excellent competitor but never reached even Ricksonâs heights as a competitor. Also Abdulmanap was younger than Rickson by a few years so if he really wanted to test himself he probably could have.
Sambo, BJJ, Judo are all the same shit, Sambo has a little more wrestling, BJJ is more ground game, but they all have the same roots.
I donât know how Abdulmanap would have fared in MMA. Iâd imagine well but youâre using my words out of context like a faggot with a Nintendo avatar.
What I said was if Abdulmanap came over to the UFC at that time with an armada of fighters he trained with, old Royce would have never happened,
and BJJ as we know it in MMA would be just like it is to Khabib,
an afterthought.
Royler got in there with Kid, Sudo and Sakuraba. Royce fought Hughes, Severn, Shamrock, Sak, Yoshida, etc⌠Renzo fought Oleg, Mo Smith, Dan Henderson, Matt Hughes, Tamura, Militech, Carlos Newton, etc⌠Rodrigo fought Sakurai. Ralph fought Gomi. Cesar Gracie who was not even an active fighter fought Frank Shamrock. Neiman has fought Fitch, MacDonald, Ruth, Storley and Jackson. Kron fought Cub and Kawajiri in his first five fights. Roger fought Waterman, Randleman, Prangley, Kondo, Kennedy, Jardine, etcâŚRodrigo fought Penn and Sakurai.
The Gracie family fighters have given up tons and tons of weight in fights.
When is the Nurmagomedov family going out there and fighting guys like Akebono, Waterman, Randleman, Severn, Pudzianowski, Severn, Ken Shamrock?
Renzo and Khabib are about the same size. Did Khabib go out there and fight the Taktarov, Mo Smith, Saku, Dan Henderson, Shoji, etc⌠bigger fighters of his era? Did Khabib fight a prime BJ when Khabib was 38 like Renzo. Did he fight a Miletich, Newton, Shamrock when he was 39/40. Think Khabib, Usman or Umar are going to fight someone like Hughes when they are 43 years old and Hughes is 37? Renzo did that. Khabib retired at 32.
Khabib retired at 32. I think Renzo was 46 when he fought Kondo.
Neiman submitted Ed Ruth. Must have cherry picked that undefeated MMA fighter and 4x NCAA champ.
Khabib, Usman and Umar never give up a single lb in their fights and the Gracies gave up hundreds and hundreds of lbs in their fights.
Lol, he fought taxi drivers half of his career in fathers org
Royceâs competition
That was one of the first fights in UFC history on the UFCâs first night in existence. That was also Royceâs first pro NHB fight. His 2nd fight that night was Shamrock and his 3rd was Gordeau and he gave up substantial weight in both of those fights. How much weight did Umar give up last night or any other night?
Khabibâs first opponent was also 0-0 in MMA and retired 4-6. Khabibâs 2nd opponent was also 0-0, Shamil Abdulkerimov, he retired 4-3. Want to compare his career to Shamrockâs? How long do you think that guy would hang with Shamrock?
Royce alone gave up over 600 lbs of weight advantage in his career.
I respect what the Nurmagomedov family has done in MMA but you canât use it to minimize what the Gracie family achieved. That is nonsensical.
The Gracies literally owned the UFC, it was a showcase/advertisement for them. There were legit guys in the world who could have beat Royce. Khabib actually had a smart career path of fighting low level competition, more MMA fighters should start slow and build experience rather than get thrown to the wolves. Given that Khabib never lost a single round in the UFC itâs safe to say there was some benefit to it.
A single well trained Dagestani could take out the entire Gracie family in a 1-day tournament.
Youâve got these guys bullshitting about actual history, then Russian guys smashing everyone. They arenât the new Gracieâs, they are everything the Gracieâs claim they were.
Winner winner chicken dinner.
