Nurmagomedovs are the new Gracies

When the Gracies after Royce started fighting everyone was scared. The Nurmagomedov crew is in the same boat but even scarier because those fuckers are fighting everyone and not cherry picking fights like some of the Gracie family. They’re just fucking everyone up in their path. They also have extended family and their team is on an insane trajectory right now.

Gracies are always scary on the ground but Khabib’s team (even if Khabib retires from coaching) are scary everywhere depending on who you get.

They’re actually better because they are doing it in a much tougher era.

The only reason the Gracie’s or even BJJ was even a thing is because they got to the UFC before this man.

I agree. Just wanted to make sure people knew the Nurmagomedov family and their extended family are fucking people up in multiple organizations and people are scared.

They are the newest GnP but their hands don’t fly as good as people think.

Ask Raoni Barcelos if the hands are flying enough.

To say Jiu Jitsu wouldn’t exist because some Dagestani who only knows wrestling and judo would come in and beat everyone is moronic. He only won a few regional wrestling and judo matches in his “athletic career” and never did anything beyond that. There were MUCH better wrestlers in the UFC than him (or his son). FFS Mark Schultz was an olympic gold medalist in freestyle. Dan Severn a pan am/world cup gold medalist in freestyle.

EVERYONE had to learn jiu jitsu because of how effective it was (including Khabib). You realize Khabib has put more hours training BJJ in his MMA career than most black belts right?

I agree with you triforce but Khabib’s father laid the ground work for Khabib and the rest of the team. He learned from what was happening and adjusted settings to get a winning team. I won’t say he was a visionary because many had the same exact idea but he did things right and his team is fucking people up over all major organizations right now.

There are tons of teams that cross-trained in other disciplines but team Khabib’s dad and then Khabib found a winning mix.

What is the Story of Khabib's Infamous " If Sambo Was Easy It'd Be Called Jiu-Jitsu" Shirt?

I love Khabib and respect his decision to leave the sport but man… it pisses me off. He could have created the army to rule all armies. I guess him and his father created an army anyway but it’s definitely not going to be the same without them.

Most of the Gracies sucked. The Nurmagomedovs are more like the new Miletich camp, which produced many champs. We’ll see if they can keep it up in upcoming generations with Khabib and his father both out of the picture.

Khabib is out the picture but sort of not really. He’s still training with his closer boys in Dagestan. Advises them, supports them and always will but the schedule he had was insane, and he was doing it all out of his pocket. It just wasn’t sustainable.

There still is the Nurmagomedov MMA school in Dagestan where his techniques are being passed down and finely honed.

Jack if you think about it Khabib’s last fight was 2 1/2 years ago. In that time period his whole team has gone 75-2. I just made those numbers up but they’re probably that impressive.

His army is blooming. It’s not 100% the Khabib army but Khabib and his dad’s army. They started this years ago but now the fruits of their labor are being recognized.

Example for now they’re the “hot” team. That can change at any minute. Right now they’re the dominant team. No other team is even close. MMA is cyclical, next year it could be Diego Sanchez’s nonexistent team that dominates.

Honestly, I just wish he was in it for a few more years to cement it. That’s about what he would need to build the ultimate army of fighters that could sustain themselves without him.

I still predict they will be a dominant force in MMA for years either way. They are just so far ahead at the moment.

There was something more hardcore about Abdulmanap. He was a master of combat AND a military type who took a personal interest in these guys not just for the sake of fighting but to keep them away from terrorist organizations. It’s hard to imagine that kind of discipline continuing to future generations with so much fortune and fame in the family/camp now.

Yeah, even with Khabib. He actually had a jail like his father did for anyone slacking too much in training and they took their phones and everything when he sent them there. This is actually true read into it.

The school certainly doesn’t have a commander that can match either one of them, but one thing they do have now is the best of the best coming to train there. Sure, some of them are becoming rich and famous and that energy rubs off on everybody in a bad way, but a lot of the kids who haven’t made will also see that and be motivated.

I agree. But you got this nuthugger saying Khabib’s father would have beaten Rickson Gracie. It’s laughable.
