Footage of Francis Ngannou’s lone kickboxing bout from 2015 has fans concerned about the Cameroonian’s chances of defeating Tyson Fury in October.

“The Predator” is arguably the most devastating power puncher that MMA has ever seen, and after suffering back-to-back losses in 2018 he stopped four opponents in the first round before knocking out Stipe Miocic to become the UFC’s heavyweight champion.

Ngannou surprised fans by employing a grappling-heavy approach against Ciryl Gane in his only title defense at UFC 270, and after signing with the PFL earlier this year the 36-year-old indicated one of the selling points for his contract was the opportunity to finally achieve a lifelong dream of testing himself in the boxing ring.
“The Predator” did compete in one kickboxing match shortly before he joined the UFC, and a clip showing highlights from that bout has recently been making the rounds online.

Twitter Reacts To Footage Of Francis Ngannou Kickboxing

The footage does display Ngannou’s tremendous power but was admittedly not the most technical performance, and naturally the combat sports community was eager to share takes on how he’ll fair in a boxing match against Fury.

So he’s always looked like a roided up amateur.

What, people are surprised? His striking was bad the last time we seen him.

Sport has “evolved” to a place where a guy who literally isn’t good at a single fucking thing was king of the hill. :frowning:

“Wow, he actually did the right thing”. DC on Ngannou defending a takedown the night he became champion.
