‘That’s Not Even An Argument!’
O’Malley sees an easy win in a wrestling bout between “The Eagle” and “The Allen Assassin.”
UFC Bantamweight Champion Sean O’Malley recently revealed who he believes would win a wrestling match between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Bo Nickal.
During his 29-0 run in professional MMA, “The Eagle” used a grueling blend of wrestling, combat sambo, and submission grappling to dominate the competition. Retiring as the lightweight titleholder, Nurmagomedov is often regarded as one of the most outstanding MMA fighters of all time.
Nickal, meanwhile, is still very early in his professional MMA career, with a record of 5-0. A seasoned folkstyle wrestler, “The Allen Assassin” won both the NCAA Championship and the Big 10 Conference at 197 pounds back in 2019.
Back in November 2023, Nickal claimed that his wrestling experience would be enough to topple “The Eagle” as well. His comments led to O’Malley’s own discussion on the matter this week.
‘They’re Different’ - O’Malley Compares Khabib & Nickal
During a recent video on his YouTube channel, O’Malley and his coach and friend Tim Welch discussed a hypothetical wrestling bout between Khabib and Nickal.
O’Malley was quick to point out the size difference, with Nickal competing at middleweight, two weight classes heavier than the Russian’s work at 155 pounds. “Sugar” confidently asserted that Nickal would get the better of the Dagestani star in wrestling.
“Yeah, he probably beats Khabib 100 per cent,” O’Malley said. “Khabib fought at 155, Bo Nickal’s fighting at 185; they’re different.”
Welch also pointed out Nickal’s explosive athleticism and the fact that wrestling is still relatively fresh in his mind. The rising star continued freestyle wrestling until 2021, where he was unsuccessful in his bid to make it to the Tokyo Olympic Games.
