Opposing views on UFC class-action suit

Here's a real simple breakdown of the opposing views regarding this law suit.

Group A:  Zuffa fans and Dana White fans that think the fighters are "lucky to get what they get"

Group B:  MMA fans that have seen fighters treated like shit by Zuffa for far too long

This kind of thinking encapsulates one of the stupidest things about this forum: you're either a shill or not a shill, whether it's for or against the UFC. There's no middle-ground, no gray areas. If you disagree with the lawsuit, you're a Zuffa shill with Dana White posters on your wall; if you're for the lawsuit, you're a true MMA fan fighting for the respect and rights of the little guy.

People that perpetuate this type of environment continue to ruin and push out meaningful, fun, and intelligent discussions about all things MMA in this forum.

Why don't you guys ever crack on Bellator for it's shitty pay? They have better financial backers than the UFC. If these fighters are so valuable, then why don't they just snatch them all up and reap the benefits? Seems like common sense if they are so valuable. Phone Post 3.0

THIS LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kidding aside i think your onto something here, ive never seen this point brought up before in these discussions, it will be a game changer
I guarantee you Bellator is paying out a significantly higher portion of profits from it's organization to fighters than UFC. Significantly! If you are going to say Viacom as a majority stake holder in Bellator has greater resources than Zuffa that is true... But you missed the argument entirely. Bellator as a profit making industry for Viacom is working with margins way thinner than UFC for Zuffa and their pay is almost comparable. Bellator isn't some giant money maker for Viacom shareholders as UFC is for it's 4 shareholders. And of the profits being generated by Bellator I guarantee shareholders are not taking 70 plus percent and using only 10-17 percent to pay out talent. That's abusive... And usually something you could happen in a monopoly... Phone Post 3.0

if it's bad pay dont do it...  at what point are fighters going take responsibility for the agreements they enter into?

you cant enter an agreement and then after the fact say,... shit you have to pay me more.

Imagine if you made an agreement with your plumber and after he does the work he wants more money.  YOu negotiate that first.... you dont just make an agreement and then come back demanding more money.

you get free tickets and you complain about your seats...

The fact is life sometimes sucks for people and the easy thing to is blame someone else for it.

The germans did it to the jews and now people are doing it to the UFC.

I'll just post what Prof. Zev Eigen told me

"Its just a silly thing to say to observe someone getting a bad deal and saying they must love it. It is true that employees will tolerate a bad deal because it is better than the alternative. For example, what if someone offered you the choice of getting beaten 100 times or getting beaten 50 times? If I only observed you making the choice to get beaten 50 times without observing you turning down the alternative choice of getting beaten 100 times, I might wrongly conclude that you love getting beaten. I know it's kind of a ridiculous example, but the point is, when you observe someone taking a bad deal you can't always say 'Well if they are taking that deal they must be happy.' Not true. You have to compare it to their alternative to the exchange. If the alternative to exchange for most fighters is no better than what they are currently getting, then what is their choice?"

Your professor only makes one good point...  that his example is ridiculous.   We dont live in a world with only 2 possibilities of 100 beatings vs 50 beatings.... maybe north koreans do but we dont.

We live in a world with nearly unlimited possibilities and opportunities.  MMA being only 1 of a gazillion...  and within that you have realities of what is possible in mma and what is probable and based on that you can choose to participate or you could choose to go do something else... it's an elective.

Secondly Im not saying you have to be happy with the agreements you make.

Im saying as an adult when you enter into an agreement take responsibility for it.  You can be as unhappy as you want with it at anytime... just take responsibility for it.   Dont blame others for your unhapiness, blame yourself.  As an adult take responsibility for the agreements you enter into.

You can either learn from the experience and use it to make better decisions in your life or waste away your life blaming others for the decisions you've made.  The latter leads to alot more unhappiness.

Unfortunately we have teachers and professors like the one you quoted brainwashing kids with all this socialist, communist entitlement nonsense which trickles down to their kids and their grandkids to where we now live in a world where children cant even handle being insulted.

Back when personal responsibility was a core value in this country insults made you stronger... getting picked on made you stronger...  we now have fucking cage fighters whining about seat placement.

Cage Fighters whining about seat placement?!?
