(Colorado Springs, Colo.) - USA Judo is pleased to announce that the On The Mat Ju-Jitsu National Championships will be held in conjunction with the U.S. Open Judo Championships from Sept. 25-26 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center.

The two events will be run simultaneously throughout the day with judo and ju-jitsu matches being run on adjacent mats.

"USA Judo is excited to partner with OTM to hold a national championship ju-jitsu event for the first time," said Mike Swain (San Jose, Calif.), U.S. Open Event Coordinator and a 1988 Olympic medalist in judo.  "Our goal is to offer more cross training opportunities which will help both sports grow and become stronger as well as expand our membership of USA Judo."

The OTM Nationals will include adult and masters (over 30-years-old) divisions for white, blue, purple, brown and black belts.  The Nationals will use Olympic weight divisions as follows: Men's 55kg, 60kg, 66kg, 73kg, 81kg, 90kg, 100kg and +100kg; and Women's 44kg, 48kg, 52kg, 57kg, 63kg, 70kg, 78kg and +78kg.

One of the premier judo championships in the Western Hemisphere, the U.S. Open draws athletes from more than 20 nations to compete in senior, masters, kata and visually impaired divisions.
