Overeem won't fight in September? UFC brass is mad

The next round was suppose to be in October. Zuffa is trying to move the schedule up to September which would effectively only give Overeem about 5 weeks to prepare. That's why he turned the date down. He said he will be happy to fight Big Foot in October according to the original schedule. Zuffa's lack of planning isn't Overeem's problem.

How you guys can be satisfied with Zuffa's trivialized brand of McMMA is beyond my comprehension.

I read he wants the fight in October, not September

Did not realize that... I take my comments back. That is not right for a fighter to have so much on the line and not have the proper preperation time.

JerodR - I like Overeem but screw him. This is the Strikeforce HW Grand Prix, not the Overeem Open. If he doesn't want to participate on the dates given then maybe he should be out. Any other tournament in the world, regardless of pro or ammature would be held to the same standard.

Your post would have merit if the dates had been formulated months ago, but to change the date from October to early September and then not to discuss with fighters potential earlier dates, but to mandate that they be availble on the date formulated by Zuffa, seems like a inconsiderate, dictorial, bullshit move on Zuffa's behalf.

He didn't want to fight in June either, that was evident when he stepped in the cage. lol

yhknq - which fits the best
a) a ploy to get out of zuffa so he can try his hand at boxing(klitschko bout)
b) a ploy to get into the ufc nick diaz style
c) money grab
d) needs more time to prepare

e) needs more time to cycle off.

BIGGtoNe - "Not enough time to cycle properly"<br><br>Exactly. What other reason would he have. He either fights or gets thrown the fuck out <img src="/images/phone/post_tag.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>

I agree !

Ghan - Word going around that Overeem is out and Cormier is in. Looks like Zuffa didn't like the way Reem took this to the press.

good for him - good for cornier, good for overeem good for zuffa

Regardless of Alistair's reason for wanting more time, this is a pretty disrespectful move by a promoter. You don't tell your fighters that they're going to fight in October and then change it to a month earlier without speaking to them.

K1 title is 400k prize money only. Add to that showup money per fight, clothing sponsors, tv commercials etc= more than a million K1 only, then je has the dream contract, clothing brnd, gym, seminars, paid interviews and potentially orher mma org's. This is enough to not worry!

Of course he might lose k1 to badr or semmy but still good pay..... If feg pays ;) Phone Post
