Ovince St. Preux adds to knockout streak with 8 second KO of UFC veteran Jason Day

This past weekend, Knoxville's Ovince St. Preux (7-4) faced off against the very tough UFC veteran Jason “Dooms” Day (18-10) in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Canada, and needed a mere 8 seconds to walk away with yet another impressive victory.

The bout headlined the Evolution Fighting Championships 5 “Summer Rumble” show on Saturday at the Lloydminster Centennial Civic Centre.

St. Preux said after the fight that he came in with a game plan of switching stances to start off the fight.

St. Preux had little time to initiate or follow through on any type of game plan as Day charged out of the gate and across the cage at the former University of Tennessee linebacker.

After an overhand right from Day missed, St. Preux connected with a crushing left uppercut that dropped the UFC veteran, and followed up with more punches, forcing the referee to step in and stop the fight.

The win marks the fourth consecutive knockout victory for St. Preux, all in the first round, and maybe even more impressive, all in 2010.

St. Preux made his Strikeforce debut in April in Nashville at the “Strikeforce: Nashville” card and made quite an impression on Scott Coker and the Strikeforce brass, winning by TKO over Chris Hawk in just 47 seconds. The win resulted in a multi-fight deal with Strikeforce.

St. Preux has won two straight fights since his Strikeforce debut and expects to be on a Strikeforce Challengers Series card before the end of the year. He trains out of Knoxville MMA in Knoxville, TN.
