A week later, Bernard Hopkins and Jean Pascal rematch on HBO for the light heavyweight championship of the world.

June 4th Chavez Jr fights for a world title on HBO....

Also on June 4th Glen Johnson and Carl Froch battle in the second super six semi final on Showtime.

June 18th Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez defends his title against top 10 jr middleweight Ryan Rhodes on HBO.

Then finally on July 2nd Wladamir Klitschko will defend against his toughest challenger David Haye live on HBO.

.........These fights are all FREE to subscribers of these networks. It's a great time to be a boxing fan.

"Boxing's dead" lol.

 And 1.1 million were disappointed?

can't wait for canelo

FSMA - "Boxing's dead" lol.

Well....yeah it kinda is. They do over a million buys 2-3 times a year max. UFC averages around 800k give or take every month. If boxing had more fighters that could draw then saying "boxing is dead" would be silly. Right now its the truth.

slamming - When was the last million PPV event that didnt include Pacquiao or Mayweather. Genuinely curious..

Not sure, but De La Hoya/Hopkins comes to mind.

Not sure what numbers the last UFC show did, but if they didn't eclipse a million then they are coming up on 10 months since they hit a million.

It's easy to claim success when you have to stack a card and have an even every single month to TRY to compete with boxing. Plus, when the numbers aren't even public knowledge it's even easier lol.

Boxing isn't as big here in the US but it's a huge global sport that will never be eclipsed by the UFC.

I feel sorry for 1.2 million people for having to watch that.

UFC 121 was on October 23.

Missed that. You're 100% right. My bad.

The biggest show in UFC history draws as many fans as a Klitschko vs an AmeriCAN fight in Germany

BehemothMonk - The biggest show in UFC history couldn't beat Pacquiao vs an old ass Shane Mosley? LOL

I think you should've said something like this..

A sport that has only been around since 1993 can almost beat a sport thats well over 100 years old?!

There have been some great fights in boxing lately (last weekend's main event was NOT one of them) and there are several potentially great matchups coming up too. Shaping up to be a great year for boxing.

I'm guessing 70% felt like they were ripped off at the end of the night....

And I was not part of that 1.1 mil. Stream FTW Phone Post

those are just rumors for now.

Is that domestic or world wide PPV sales? Because remember a lot of the PPV stuff for the UFC is free in Europe.

Domestic sales. Phone Post

"MMA will never be bigger than boxing."

Biggest false assumption you could ever make. The fact boxing got as big as it did on a worldwide level was equally unlikely as MMA getting just as big. Boxing is a bloodsport of visceral violence, MMA is the same...with kicks, knees, elbows, throws, slams, chokes and joint locks thrown in for added entertainment. Boxing's current worldwide popularity is attributed to decades of marketing and exposure that MMA has yet to even scratch the surface with. Whatever push-back MMA gets as it forges its way into the mainstream is likely to be similar to the push-back boxing once received as it was establishing itself globally as a legitimate sport.

Manny will always pull strong numbers in the PPV market. Tell me anyone who is currently Boxing not named Pacquiao or Mayweather who pull in those type of numbers?
