Tremendous performance tonight. He was extremely well coached and executed a game plan. He showed balls and a good chin standing with Baroni and was landing some good shots. He took some shots from Baroni and kept coming forward.
Alot of people will say Baroni was off his game, winded , and everything else. He is a 28 yr old monster. He can still throw leather, He has a good chin, tremendous wrestling abaility. And he is by no means done. This was a good loss. Drago has alot of destruction in him. He has a great career in front of him. These 2 guys could meet for a belt in a year or 2.
Drago took a lot out him mentally by being able to take him down when Phil was fresh. Then when he the exchanging blows Phil didnt expect as did alot of doubters here , Drago to be as game as he is. He is a tough bastard who DGAF {doesnt give a fuck}, He likes to fight. Thats what sapped Phils energy. Drago would go back to a calm and collected corned where both Serra and Ray Longo kept him calm and on a gameplan. Baronis downfall was Drago first ,but he would go back to a corner where he had Laimon telling him to take drago down and hang on? Mark Coleman ? and three guys that followed him to the ring to get on tv. You can train with all the biggest names in the game but Drago had the better team .A tremendous support system for a fighter. He was smart keeping most of the fight near his side of the cage.
Bottom line he hung in there with Baroni took his punches, was able to take Baroni down, held Baroni down, and then after a grueling 14:00 minutes showed incredible fortitude in being able to catch Baroni in the guillotine and put him out,. Phils neck and arm were trapped inside and Drago was still able to execute it.
This was Drago's day. And a new group of haters will be born, but like him or not. You have now been formally been introduced to Pete "Drago" Sell
The only reason that choke worked was because Baroni was so gassed. Baroni should've been able to put his forearm against Sell's jaw and pulled his head out.
Drago looked great out there. He wasn't afraid to trade with Baroni and pulled out a great last minute sub. For God's sake I hope Dana sends Baroni back to the minors. There is no reason a guy with 4 consecutive losses should still have a UFC contract.
ttt his corner did very well and i agree he seems to be a guy who honestly like combat which is a quality you cant teach.. its good to have him in the ufc and there are lots of good matchups for him.. i would lov eot see him vs the crow..
