After missing out on two title shots over the last two years, "Showtime" told MMAFighting.com on Tuesday that he recently missed out on being a coach on "The Ultimate Fighter."
"[I'm] still recovering from shoulder surgery," he said, "and it's taking longer than expected. I was hoping to get 'The Ultimate Fighter' gig because I was told it was me and [Donald] Cerrone coaching, and now it's not happening. I'm just frustrated with everything, man."
Which is sad because he is responsible for the most amazing move highlight in MMA history and the UFC doesn't promote that instead of shit talking
Sucks for him but honestly Jones/Sonnen is 100x better for TUF. If the goal is to get viewers to watch TUF Sonnen/Jones will do that, Cowboy/Pettis wouldnt.
Great fight though and it will probably happen in Jan. I think if the UFC was smart they would make that fight the main event on a FOx show.

As much as I got sick of the clip and how Pettis became "that guy who did the kick off the cage" to casual viewers; the UFC never tried to capitalize on a potentially exciting and presentable guy.
Instead we get Chael with recycled pro wrestling promos.
Pro wrestling fans would shit all over this move because they've gotten too smart for the game.
MMA fans still think the UFC is nothing like the WWE so they become mouth breathing marks who buy the hype every time.
Once fans smarten up to the bullshit, either the bubble fully bursts as it did in pro wrestling as no one thinks it is as cool as it was in 1999 or they vocally express a disdain for such match ups and demand a better product.

I totally see the reasoning, it's just a shame they don't promote the super exicitng parts of MMA and their sources more. Pettis is a phenom at striking and should be talked about more.

This, it sucks but Jones and Chael are 100x more interesting for tuf and bazillion times more interesting for the casual fans, which is what the move is 100 percent geared towards
I think Chael might actually be able to get under Bones' skin; the problem however is that Chael is the one Bones will have to fight.
IMO it would work much better if Chael coached TUF opposite Bones and then afterwards Bones fought Lyoto again. Chael could be Lyoto's manager, ala Harvey Whippleman.
if Jones vs Chael was necessary to get Tuf a better night then so be it... the UFC has lost more than half it's 18-34 male fanbase this past year... if they need to do everything short of bringing back kimbo slice, Tuf only drew 620k viewers last week... it's in ICU and only Dr Chael will do.
