How anyone can be reveling in this is just amazing to me as an MMA fan.
We might never see the rule set, grand prix and 10 minute first rounds again. What I think a lot of people are ignoring is that corrupt athletic commissions of the US are now virtually in control of MMA.
Until the UFC changes their rule set and judging system I will happily pirate/stream and distribute every event!

There's a difference between revelling and having seen this outcome MANY years ago... There was a reason I took flak for years upon years here ripping on Pride - THIS IS WHAT WE'VE BEEN LEFT WITH.
Unlike typical teenage consumers (pride fans), there was no long term plan, the format and marketing of the event was not long term thinking, and has been proven as such.
This was the thrust of my comments over the years, and I took shit from every second person on it.. I'm thoroughly vindicated though because the mess I predicted, is what we've been left with.
So, some gloating sure, but mostly just apathy around the whole issue because it was a long time coming.

As long as I get to see the fighters I like compete, I really don't care which promotion it happens in.
Pride FC is responsible for their own demise and it's too bad they got themselves in such a pickle. DW and company were smart to pillage the ruins in an effort to make their brand stronger.
The fans and the athletes are the real winners and that's all that truly matters at the end of the day, IMO.

These employees were lucky Zuffa kept them on as long as they did. Obviously, the PRIDE business was a bust so Zuffa is doing what is right by downsizing and bringing the talent to the UFC.

Now the UFC will never get anything more than a minor TV contract in Japan, leaving the door open for other orgs...

Well, it's obviously not that horrible. Sean Salmon just went and TKO'd Europe's top LHW in 3 minutes a couple weeks ago. Japan is still right up there with Brazil and U.S., though the balance is shifting in favor of the U.S. fighters as more and better athletes get involved.
Like people said, they should be lucky they got paid 6 months to do what. If it was me, I would have lined up another job a long time ago. Dana White repeatedly said Pride was dead, how is this a suprise?

BTW the whole UFC vs Pride debate was and still is beyond stupid. Any true MMA or fight fan would have been happy to have 2 such amazing shows to watch on constant rotation . The MMA landscape just lost something special and things are kind of boring these days.
If they were bought out by their biggest competitor and I got to see all the fighters from both organizations in one spot i would be happy. Why aren't you?
