I've had my share of dealings with Reed Cook here in Fayetteville, AR. He lives here with his mother. It's kind of surprising considering he caught a felony fraud charge for using her credit card, or something of that nature.

I remember he tried to recruit me to fight. He told me he was 'going pro' and had just signed on to the UFC and had just come back from Vegas.

So I was checking out craigslist and came across this...

http://fayar.craigslist.org/spo/895731747.html

I posted a sort of "buyer-beware" response to warn would-be amateur fighters so that they don't get taken by his fraudulent ways.
Anyways, I know that Felipe Espinoza and some others were trying to get the word out about him...so I just thought I would let you know that he's back.

On a side note...I don't know who is in the top right of that poster in his ad...but it reminded me of Jeremy Combrink...who KO'd him seconds into the first round.

I remember when Reed Cook tried to convince me to invest $15k in his show in NW Arkansas a couple of years ago. He assured me that 5000 people would buy tickets. He acted like I was stupid for questioning him as to how he was going to get crowds almost as big as some UFC shows.

The show never happened, and then threatened to sue me for not helping invest after I said I could be interested, but would need to see a business plan.

What an idiot.

I would advise people to stay away from Reed Cook. I've watched anything and everything he has touched turn to garbage in the last two years.

Even ProElite wasn't immune. Somehow he was able to get featured on their website... and it wasn't long before they went bankrupt.

Reed "The Game" Cook was scheduled to face Jason Nicholson tonight in Kansas City on the Titan Fighting Championships event but pulled out. He showed up and just decided he wasn't going to fight. The casino (Ameristar) ended up kicking Reed out and not allowing him to get his stuff.

More info will be available once the event is over.

reed cook is trying to start another promotion in AK? Good lord...

I live in NW Arkansas and Reed Cook who I don't know from Adam wanted to train me, and aparently thought I was a complete dumbass and would just pay him $400month.
Remember I am new to this sport so some of my responses are serious and some are to see what he would say in reply, after about halfway through I was just egging him on to lay him out.

Sorry for the long post. But this idiot should be embarassed in ever way possible.

Bro if you haven't got enough info on me now then ur a dumbass. i have gave u every fucking credential I have. As far as the shit from 2005 get real. Thats a b.s. blog from a nobody. Who cares. You need to get off your fat ass and hit the gym instead of being a fucking internet warrior. Good luck in ur training. I will not train you as I said in my last email. So move on please and find someone else to bother.

Reed,
I did what anyone I hope would that is about to plump down hard earned cash on a trainer.
This is back and forth? This is questions to a possible trainer. Who is it that you train?
You don't give any answers just beat around the bush stuff.
Your myspace page has nothing on it. I don't hate you I want to know about someone
that could possibly train me, thats it! I looked up your opponents and their info and I can't find
anything on you. Give me some information.

JT
The info is from the TexasMMA.com website and Sherdog.com

First off where are you hearing this shit? Show me something. I have a good reputation. Bro I have plenty of proposals for me to train people. I am going back and forth with you because I thought u wanted a fight. If you are just interested in what people say on the internet then bro move on. I'm a profighter. I have my fans and people who hate me. The same as any profesional fighter. And people talk shit. I am not going to train you because you can't afford me and I don't train people who don't have the resources to do this full-time. I currently train 2 of the best amateur fighters in the mid-west. And I am considered a top ten kickboxer in the Midwest. My reputation with fight promoters and fight press is that I hit hard and I always put on a good show. I have held titles in Sambo, Juijitsu, MMA, and Pancrase. I am a seasoned fighter. Here is my myspace page: http://myspace.com/reedcook Check this out! LOL

The pictures should give you all you need if you know anything about MMA you know who my fighters are, and also that I am for real.

I want to know about the person that would train me and when I read all this it makes me ask
more questions. Can you give me details about what exactly you did at these places and who trained you?

Where in the hell are you reading that shit at???? Who the hell is calling me a fraud? I have a very good reputation...Who are all these so called "people" you refer to going against me? I can afford to go place because I work and I never paid to train or stay with these people all I had to pay for was the plane tickets. I actually lived in Japan from Jan 2006 to March 2007.

Why is there so many people that seem hell bent on going against you and calling you Reed "The Fraud" Cook?
I don't know you and don't think just because I read something it is true either. But why is all this out there?

How did you afford to go to Brazil,Lions Den,France,Russia and Japan and can you give me more details about
all these places and what exactly you did?

I currently personal trainer with two others. One in MMA and the other in juijisu. I mean $80 a week which is I have never done before but since I know you have the desire to fight I can make my money on that end when you start to compete. But I can't take you on for less than that. I am available for private lessons one night a week for $50 if you just want to try that out.

Reed

Joel Thomas wrote:
Reed, do you mean 80/wk or 80/month?
If it was a week I still couldn't afford the $320/month.
Is there someone else you are doing this with right now?

I can give you 2 nights a week 2 hours each night for $80.00. But once you start getting serious about this you can fight and I will manage you and take a percentage of your fight purse. I can get you a fight next month to start you off to help supplement you training. But to start let's do 2 nights a week 2 hours each night or we can do 4 nights a week 1 hour each night. This will be cardio and strength training also real world back woods Russian Sambo training. This is the real deal. McFanns has a ring and an ok trainer or two. But they can't prepare you for a fight like I can. If you want to be a badass fighter you have to learn the mental game that's what it is all about. And until you have personal training to instill that in you you will not be ready to be a real fighter.

Reed,
I am VERY interested, if not for the price. I own my own business trimming horses hooves and I know that
you have to charge to make a living. What could I do for less(1/4,1/2)? What would be my best bet for getting a
head start and eventually getting to the place when I could afford to train this much. I noticed you mentioned starting my career
when I am ready. So this is a reality? I am talking to my wife and if she could see a change in me through this I think she
might go through with it in the future.
So you are in NW Arkansas(fayetteville I assume)? I am in the Springdale area.
I have been going to Mcfanns for 2 weeks now but am really after Sambo.
Let me know,
Joel

Joel,

The rates I gave you would be unlimited training for 400.00 a month. By unlimited I mean in your yard or mine at first and lots of running and conditioning drills. Start off with 2 days of light running and conditioning and the other 2 days spent on training. This is a slow process especially if you are out of shape. Monday and Wed. would be running days and conditioning work, Tues and Thursday would be sparring and training. We would go into several different gyms when I felt you were ready. I am affiliated with most of them and know the owners well. The show I am fighting in is The Extreme Fighting League owned by Dale "Appollo" Cook.
http://www.apolloskarate.com/eXtreme_Fighting.html

The Sambo that I would train you in you can find info on here:

http://www.sambofrance.org/
http://www.rus-sambo.com/
I have trained with both clubs and am certified thru the club in France. I own the "franchise" for Arkansas. I promote fighters and manage fighters and also promote events and fight in events. This is my website:
http://www.freewebs.com/arfightsite/

Any more questions I would be glad to answer. I also can get you a fight whenever I feel you are ready to begin your career. I can also get you in some amateur sambo grappling tournaments to fine tone your Sambo skills also.

Sounds like you have "been there". Do you live here in NW Arkansas? I definately need better conditioning but I am working
on that with diet and exercise. I am 6' 240 right now but hopefully can be around 225 after fat loss and muscle gain. I don't have mats although I do have a yard. Do you train around here with a gym or on your own? Where is the Tulsa fight going to be? Who is sanctioning the fight? I am looking to definately get in shape but also to get in fighting shape for competition. I am not interested in learning street fighting as I am not that type of guy. My goal would be to compete and go from there.
I am 24 and ahve 3 young kids at home, and am in school fulltime for nursing in the near future. I couldn't afford the $400/month at this time but am still interested in whatever I could do. Did you mean 2hrs/night for 3-4nights each week for $400/month?
Just didn't get a clear picture of the charges. You mentioned certifying me as a Sambo trainer, who would that be through and how long would that take? And who are you licensed by? Is the Russian MMA Sambo more of a combat style than sport?
I am definately interested in the NHB style.
Thanks
JT

Fedor and also Andrei Arvlowski both study Sambo and are world champions. It is basically the russian version of Judo. I studied it in Florida for 2 years. I am a licensed trainer and also can certify you to be a Sambo trainer. My credentials are that I am a professional fighter. I fight constantly in pro events and I am 22-2 in mma and undefeated in Kickboxing and Boxing. I have been training in MMA for 15 years. I have trained in Brazil with the Gracies and in Texas with the Lions Den. My training would consist of getting you conditioned first then moving into actual training. Sambo is best taught in a real world setting such as a park or in an open area like a yard. Do you have mats? I usually charge $50 per session and a session is an hour. But for what you are looking to learn it would take dedication and time. I would be willing to give you 2 hours a night for 3 or 4 nights and then a weekend session for $175.00, $400 for the month. If you would like to see me fight first I have a fight in Tulsa next weekend and you could decide if you really wanted to learn from me. I am a very laid back guy and believe in teaching in a slow but structured pace. Please tell me what you are looking to get out of this and what your ultimate goal is(To fight, get in shape, etc.)

Joel Thomas wrote:
What would you charge and yes I would like to know your credentials.
I am currently doing exercises at home to strengthen myself using
5ft tire flips, sled drags, sand/duffle bag squats and kettlebells. I am VERY
interested in this style and am doind what "I" can to prepare my body I just
need to get started with technique.
What are your credentials?
I won't lie, I am very interested after reading about Fedor Emalianenko but
not from the glitz and glamour as much as his mellow attitude and his skill.
Let me know.

If you would like to learn Sambo I can teach you but it would be on a one on one basis. If you are interested I will send you my credentials.

I would love to train in Sambo, but apparently my options are limited.
Can you point to some good schools and list reasons against Mcfanns?

Yes I have heard of the school and I would recommend you go to several others before there. What are you looking to learn and who are you?

any info you have on the type of training they do and if it is mma related?

"Sambo is best taught in a real world setting such as a park or in an open area like a yard."

Wow did I go about things all wrong.

there are so many gems in this shitpile

i think "unlimited training for 400.00 a month. By unlimited I mean in your yard or mine" might be the best one, but "My credentials are that I am a professional fighter" shines like gold as well

wow, just fucking wow.

most conmen run when questioned, this guy just gets even more aggressive

Reed Cook will just never give up. How many times does this guy have to be exposed?

and by yard, i mean the gravel parking lot next to the crackhouse

$400 a month? This fucker's insane! I don't even think Legends MMA in Los Angeles ever charged that much per month.

the 400 a month is the part you find crazy?

MountainMedic - the 400 a month is the part you find crazy?

lol
