The UFC LW division has seen Khabib, Diaz, Pettis, Barboza, Cowboy, Edgar, Bendo, Alvarez, Thomson, Melendez, Burns, Brooks, Lee, Felder, Taisumov, Sanchez, Lauzon, Gomi, Penn, Santos, Stephens, Gillespie, Ramos, Masvidal, Iaquinta, Maynard, etc… all either retire, change weight classes or leave the promotion.
Soon here, over the next two or three years the division will see a lot of retirements with Islam, Oliveira, Gaethje, Dustin, Conor, Dariush, Chandler Ferg, RDA, Dober, Green, Ferreira, Guida, Hooker, Moicano, Johnson, Miller, Madsen etc… almost all likely retiring and the ones that don’t will fall down the ranks hard as we have already seen with some already.
Most of the all-time great LW’s had at least a couple of their LW fights in the UFC from 2015-2023 and some will continue to in 2024 but thats not gonna be easy to fill their shoes and replicate what that division has had the past decade.
Just when you have to pick one weight class and one decade to highlight how good the UFC can be, I think the LW division from 2015 to 2025 is the best we have seen out of the UFC overall and its coming to end here soon.
