Taylor cop fatally shot at apartment complex

Taylor -- A Taylor police officer was fatally shot early this morning at an apartment complex near Telegraph and Northline, Michigan State Police said.
A second person also was shot, police said. Conditions for the people shot weren't available, state police said. Troopers with the Michigan State Police Metro South Post were helping with traffic and reconstructing the scene, police said.
Taylor police were not available for comment. Police at the scene taped off the area, keeping media and public away.

The incident happened about 5:30 a.m. at the Coppertree Apartments, 12553 Pine St., police said.
Other residents told WWJ-AM (950) they heard several shots and saw the officer on the ground screaming for help near a police cruiser.
