Steph Daniels sat down recently with UFC middleweight Luke Rockhold, ahead of his fight with Lyoto Machida at UFC on FOX 15 on April 18. The interview ranged from whether he likes big butts (sometimes) to the GOAT (Fedor) to Michael Bisping (good hair) to how he would fight himself (four hot cornercheerleaders) to his spit or swallow question (misleading editing) to the biggest issue in mixed martial arts - performance enhancing drugs.

"These guys are finally getting caught, because now they're doing these random, pre-fight drug tests, which they've never done," said Rockhold. "Guys in the past have been able to get by the tests because they know how to cycle off. Now, with these tests coming three to four weeks prior to the fights, all these guys are getting caught. I'm not saying Anderson was guilty all along, but a lot of these guys are getting caught for that reason.

"You've got to wonder because you hear rumors about camps, trainers ... about a lot of guys. I've heard a lot. Multiple substances were in his system, I mean, come on. There's something in the water at that camp. Hell, there's something in the water at a lot of camps. Now we've had Hector Lombard finally getting caught, and you really have to wonder just how far down the rabbit hole goes. The positive we can take away from this, is that this testing is serving a purpose and helping the sport move in the right direction by shining that bright light on the offenders. I'm sick of all the cheaters and I know I'm not the only one. It's a sad day for MMA when a legend like Anderson gets popped for steroids."

"I'm aware that it's very expensive to enforce more stringent testing for all fighters, but there is an option without incurring that level of financial burden, and that is to make the penalties much harsher for confirmed cheats. Nine month suspensions should be extended to a two year minimum. Require cheaters to undergo more extensive testing at their own cost. We should also redefine the criteria for out of competition testing and make those parameters start the minute a bout agreement is signed. Those things would go a long way toward making the sport a more level playing field for everyone.

Rockhold took the word's out my mouth i have been saying this maybe from from him he's mouth it can actually reach someone important.

I was saying 3 years. With monthly testing urine and CIR testing. Then there was this thread on here about what Rogan said that roid's change you forever and people were saying gain's go away pretty fast so i lowered my stance down to 2 years.

I still say rockhold is wrong about one thing, it's not very expensive to enforce more stringent testing for all fighter's. I say they have the money ALL 555 fighter monthly Random testing Urine and CIR. Cost 4 million a year (rounded up) lets stop acting like its so expensive Lorenzo wipes his ass with 4 million.

Does this mean Rockhold is clean??? I don't see a fighter signing their own death warrant.

And get the results BEFORE the fight. If you're positive for PEDs, you don't fight. Period. As great as the Silva/ Diaz fight was I'd rather not see it than find out he's on the sauce. Just feel cheated.

fine with the result's coming after the fight this is a war on PED's but we cant keep just cancelling card's. what need's to happen is the whole testing fighter 3-4 weeks before the fight needs to stop like rockhold said at minimum testing should start when the bout is signed at least dana would have fair enough time to replace the roid cheat's

Good for Rockhold in speaking up.
He is correct. Penalties must harsh enough to act as a deterrent.

1Jones2rulethemall - Two years is stupid. I think that that this stuff has gotten a little over the top. Steroids is not going to help you become a better fighter. That's just a fact.

At best it can make significantly stronger at LHW and definitely HW, but guys like Arnold do not win championships. I mean they did way back when MMA was young and the level of skill and training was nowhere where it is now.

Get over the steroid stuff and stop using it to make excuses for your own lack of talent.
Lol you srs? Phone Post 3.0

What's wada? Four years first time.
Lifetime for second time Phone Post 3.0

Agreed.

I doubt this guy even "rules the mall" anyway.

Lol.

If the UFC are going to get serious about this, then they should follow Wada. 4 years first offence, lifetime ban second one. Cycling
seems* to have cleaned themselves up, and they were the most ridiculous in terms of champions getting caught.

* not entirely sure if cycling is actually clean

I think 5 years is reasonable and second offense is a lifetime ban. 5 years is enough to seriously fuck up your lively hood, but at the same time give you another chance.

Steroids make you a more dangerous human.

This isn't baseball where you hit the ball farther or throw faster.

Steroids help you beat someone's face in harder, 2 year minimum. Phone Post 3.0

Good to know you know all of the 'facts', tell us more.

To all the people advocating the use of PEDs - What would be your thoughts on a new PED that gave you cardio for days, got you ripped etc but carried with it an 80% chance of having a heart attack within 10 years. Would you be ok for athletes to literally kill themselves taking stuff like that for your entertainment?
underthebag - Does this mean Rockhold is clean??? I don't see a fighter signing their own death warrant.

Sports men and women do it all the time because they all protest there innocence and say they are full natty until the get caught like Armstrong and Marion Jones

I knew coming from rockhold mouth it could be heard by someone important. Thank you LUKE!
