As if she wasn't already a white-hot property in the MMA world, UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is quickly attracting Hollywood opportunities like a magnet.
Rousey filmed Expendables 3 and Fast and Furious 7 in the lead-up to her fight with Miesha Tate at UFC 168, and now has two more major motion pictures in the offing.
Warner Bros. has tapped Rousey for a lead role in the movie-version of the hit HBO series Entourage, and has also put in a bid for the Brad Thor penned novel Athena Project, which would also come with Rousey attached as a star of the potential movie franchise.
News of Rousey's upcoming Warner Bros. offerings was reported on Thursday by Variety.com, and bolstered by Rousey's sharing of the article on social media.
Athena Project is a book about an elite U.S. counter-terrorism unit that is sent after a terrorist that executes a bombing in Rome that kills 20 Americans. Obviously, there is potential for a series of sequels if the film is successful.
Rousey next steps in the Octagon on Feb. 22, when she puts her UFC title on the line against fellow Olympian Sara McMann, but then heads into filming for her role in Entourage in mid-March.
Athena Project does not currently have a screenplay yet, so the schedule for filming for that movie is not yet set.
Rousey is quickly becoming as hot of a property in Hollywood as she is in the Octagon, and she is taking full advantage of the opportunities presented her.
UG app wont let me paste the article
I wonder if they will bring Gina to the Athena Project.
Would be cool to see them in a movie together

CamRMartin - If she's doing a cameo that's cool.Apparently a female lead. I am disappoint
Otherwise yuck.
Thanks 4 letting us know what movie not to watch bro
Briggy - At this rate shes gonna fight twice a year tops with all these movies
Twice a year tops is pretty much all anyone in the upper payscale fights nowadays.
What's the Athena project?

She's fighting so early in the year I think she will get a summer fight and a Dec fight.
can fight Cat in the sumner and Davis/Eye or Cyborg maybe in the fall.
As for Entourage I hated the finale, I mean Vince goes through the entire show as a guy who gets all this ass and then out of nowhere he meets a chick and wants to marry her after a date? That was stupid.
I thought the rest of the stories endings were ok, E and SLoan get back together, Drama and Dice have their show, Turtle is ok, Ari and his wife get together and he gets offered a studio pres spot which he wants but he is afraid it will ruin his marrage.
But Vince's ending was terrible.
GayGuardMooseSaucy - What's the Athena project?
Looked it up, its a spy novel, elite female spy team.
great, I love listening to everything she has to say!
There is no glory in kicking the crap out of Johnny Drama.
Aww, I used to love Entourage.
Plus the womens division is kind of ravaged. Zingano. Kedzie. Pena. All done
Honestly, as much as we complain about her, isnt this what we want? Her gone? So good for her! Turning her success into something outside of fighting.
Transition into hollywood, and being an active fighter, does help bring in more fans though. If I was Dana, I'd be thrilled. Brock brought in fans coming from WWE, Rousey can attempt this with Hollywood.
This has pro's. Bright side guys! Ah who the fuck am I trying to convince? She's annoying
For fucks sake! God damnit!
Good for her. I just wonder if she can act at all or if she will end up becoming a joke like 99% of athletes that try to act.
I hope she isn't a female lead that Vince is bangin. Even Turtle get chicks was hotter than her.
It won't be long until she leaves MMA to pursue acting full time.
