This is a fight to build up stock in Rousey so when the Cyborg fight happens it will be a bigger deal than if that fight happened first.
And to everyone bitching about it being a main event? What the hell is wrong with u people?! By the time the main event starts I'm usually pretty sauced, and now I'll get to see Ronda and her fantastic ass rolling around on the ground instead of some dudes.. I see this as a good thing 
I think Rousey as the main event is ridiculous because it prevents Hendo vs Machida from being a five round fight. It's also awkward to have the true main attraction second to last on the card.

Rousy main eventing is one thing... but then you have a lesbian in the main event on your first female fight. That's a bit much to swallow especially all the new eyeballs and stereo typng the sport. I bet they give liz carmouche no media/pr schedule.
Rousy vs Cyborg would have been the perfect first female fight.
I dont think her being a lez means anything, as for ROnda/Cyborg if they did do that you would be peaking in the first fight.
Everything after that would be downhill. This atleast gives them something to climb towards. If you did Ronda/Cyborg first you might as well pack it in after that because its all downhill.
This gives them a chance to promote Ronda, let fans see who she is, get an impressive performance or two in the UFC, if Cyborg can make the weight you make her win a fight and make the weight in the UFC. Then you set the fight, it becomes much bigger that way.

Thats not even the case though. As per Dana they're making the fight because no one else wanted to step up..... He went as far as saying this would be Ronda/Cyborg if he could make it.
Hendo/Machida also has the makings of a longer fight, and robbing us of those extra 2 rounds to promote this fight is just wrong.
As talent strapped as the lower weights are , the show would still go on if Barao , or Mighty mouse dropped their titles. The second Ronda loses, its pretty much game over for main card women's UFC

cyborg vs rousy is already there... can you get more hype if you build both in the UFC first? yeah but it's better to take a big fight now than what might be a bigger fight down the road wih the risk of it being derailed.
Nobody knows what cyborg is gonna look like at 135... she may look like crap. you wanna get the fight in now and get rousy that W so you dont have to deal with this cyborg Bull shit anymore.

i have no problem having this as a main event, people have options to buy events or skip them. DOnt like it, go watch something else.
My problem is this bullshit about promoting women's mma. If you think that is what this is about, you are a fool. This is just promoting Ronda. She is a money cow, at least the ufc is banking on it. If she loses, watch how little the ufc will focus on women's mma!

A non champion is opening for a champion. This has been Zuffa's policy for a long time. I know some of you think of women as being some sort of sub species, but they decided to keep the policy in place for women as well.
Personally I don't think she should be headling a PPV but maybe I'm underestimating her popularity.
