Roy Jones Jr. is 47, and set to re-enter the ring in his hometown in August The former pound-for-pound king is taking on yet another fight on Aug. 13
Roy Jones Jr. is 47 years old. And he's still taping up his fists. This time it'll be in his hometown of Pensacola, Florida. Jones Jr. is set to take on Rodney Moore, 40, on Saturday, Aug. 13 as a part of his promotional company's "Island Fights 38" card. Moore has lost nine consecutive fights dating back to 2003, which includes a hiatus from 2005 to 2012. "I'm always excited to be fighting in front of my hometown fans who have shown me so much support during my career, and I am looking forward to giving them an action-packed fight," said Jones via ESPN.com. Jones is 9-1 in his last 10 fights dating back to 2011 and has been pushing to get a shot at the cruiserweight title for a long time. He said back in March he may try to get back in the conversation for it, but he's not going to wait forever. "If I can't get the right opportunity or the right time to prepare and have proper preparation for it, then there's no sense in doing it," Jones said to CBS Sports. "I have to look at the bigger picture. If you don't have the time to prepare for it to take the shot, then don't do it." Jones' manager said he is unsure if this will be the former champ's final fight. "He wants to end his career in Pensacola at some point," Wright said. "I'm not saying this is his last fight, but he started here and he wants to end it here." Well, here's hoping it's not his final fight as Roy Jones Jr. is on a trajectory to pull off a Louis Gossett Jr. at some point:

I feel a lot better about him fighting this can than a killer like Lebedev. That shit was scary to watch, and that was years ago. Roy needs to either retire or just fight easy touches to show off for fans because I don't wanna see him fight for a title and have Glen Johnson all over again
lol at celbrity networth, that site sucks. It's well known around town he has some money issues, his big house that was on MTV Cribs years ago was foreclosed on not long ago, and I believe he lost his other house too. He used to have a serious entourage, lots of cars and toys, lots of bad investments, shady management, kids, ex ole ladies etc, it takes a lot of money for him to support his life style. A couple years ago he was supposedly being paid well to do exhibitions in Russia, and he had that commentating gig as well
He has been super nice anytime I have ever met him, and he is known as a great guy around town, sucks to see him have to keep on doing this.
Fabes - Yeah, I know. It's weird. Maybe he just wants to compete and can't walk away.
He doesnt have to keep fighting for the money.
Its a hometown fight vs some can and it will bring attention to a stacked local fight card that has a couple UFC prospects and a fight where if one guy wins he goes to the UFC. (Caldwell vs Brito)
