per sherdog, royce to return in HERO's/ProElite event in the US in July.
I thought Royce was signed to a 3 fight deal with UFC. Where did he go?
Watch you mouth say Royce to return in HERO's/ProElite event in the US in July.
Royce can you please stop tarnishing you name. You have done enough for the sport. Come on for your own sake!
"Royce can you please stop tarnishing you name."
IMO the man could lose to a chicken suit wearing minowa and not tarnish shit. LEGEND mutha. LEGEND.
If he wants to makes some of the big money HE HELPED TO CREATE I say give the man his millions win or lose.
I'd love to see Frank/Royce.
Royce vs. Akiyama would be awesome. A modern day Kimura vs. Helio.
ttt
I agree that whatever goes on now will not tarnish his name over the long-term. His place in history is secure. If he wants to cash in a few times as payment for his contributions, I say good for him.
Royce loses a fight and everyone writes him off. Sure, he is not at the top anymore, but don't forget Yoshida & Sakuraba (where he made a good showing), and they are not tomato cans. Rich Franklin lost in the clinch to Anderson Silva, and Royce lost on the ground to Hughes: both were dominated in their strong suit, but don't count either out.
People on here have very short memories.
i think K-1 is over estimating Royce's drawing power. the big thing about Royce was that most casual mma fans assumed he was undefeated and still able to submit all of his opponents. He still had a "mystique".
Hughes made Royce look very human.
I think it might be time for Royce to hang up his Gi.
hughes would not last 2 rounds with yoshida
Royce vs. Akiyama would be awesome. A modern day Kimura vs. Helio.
You mean an equally skilled but much larger fighter predictably beating another? I agree.
There are far better opponents available for Akiyama.
Royce vs. Wallid Ismail would be aewsome. He could get revenge for his bjj loss.
"You mean an equally skilled but much larger fighter predictably beating another? I agree."
Akiyama isn't much larger. 185-190 to Royce's 180-185. They are the same size basically. Akiyama is definitely stronger though.
Love Royce, but I think he gets worked over pretty badly by Akiyama, just IMO.
Royce is obviously past his prime.. to step up and still have the desire and balls to step into the ring/octagon against todays top fighters should draw admiration and support.
Royce could give two shits about what internet keyboard warriors think. All he knows is that he loves to fight, and he loves challenges.
Give the man some props and chill on the playa hatin' mmmkay?
"Royce vs. Wallid Ismail would be aewsome. He could get revenge for his bjj loss. "
Wallid was fighting mma way before Royce ever got his blackbelt and way before the ufc started and he was fighting much better competition.
Wallid probably hasn't trained much in the last few years and would still walk into the ring and destroy Royce easy.
No way Royce could ever get revenge on Wallid. Wallid has fought better guys in bjj and mma.
"You mean an equally skilled but much larger fighter predictably beating another? I agree."
I think Helio's side of the family really likes to exaggerate the weight difference between kimura and Helio. In the video they're about the same height and Kimura looks to be maybe 30-35 pounds heavier. As far as skill goes, Kimura is obviously way more technical.
