I think if Bj beats Frankie tonight him and machida can agree to meet up at welterweight for a rematch and whoever wins that fight gets a shot at Hendricks.
Aaron Becker -Well if Machida had Silva in there with him they would have finished Chris in the first.ShowtimeWreckedMyLeever - If machida fights from start the way he fought in round 4/5 he would probably finish weidmanAnd if Weidman fought in rounds 4 and 5 like he is the first three, Machida would have been finished
The first Silva fight you could say, fluke punch, Anderson wasn't taking him seriously.
The second fight you could say fluke leg check, just bad luck.
After last night, how can you say he's not the real deal? Yes, he faded in the late rounds, but no one is arguing that he isn't human. He is however unquestionably the best fighter at 185lbs

Close fight like I expected. Machida really came back in the last 2 rounds.
He absolutely pummeled Weidman in round 4, nearly 10-8 round.
Machida still has a shot at 185 title, better shot than anyone else in the division.
Are you joking? Machida had Chris almost finished twice. He was exhausted so was unable to summon the energy.
Sorry, that is exactly what happened.
First 3 I gave to Weidman, last 2 Weidman would've been finished if Machida had the cardio at that point.
" he's never beating Jon Jones or Chris Weidman."
If anything, last night made it look like he's definitely capable of beating Weidman if he is more aggressive earlier.

weidman looked like he was carrying an extra 15 lbs on machida.

I Agree with this tbh.
He didn't force Weidman to do much in the first few rounds.
He also could have thrown those body kicks earlier.
Obviously easier said than done, but i think he could adjust.
Disagree with op. Both fighters have seen what the other brings, it's up to Machida to make the adjustments as he lost but he knows he hurt him badly. More body kicks early or making Chris pay for his agressiveness and he can win a rematch.

The thing is, Machida usually doesn't throw too many strikes anyways. If Machida is able to make adjustments for a rematch, I'm certain that Chris Weidman could also make adjustments.
I had Chris winning 4 rounds to 1 and I don't see a rematch going much different, except maybe Chris finishes him.
Aaron Becker -I'm by far not a machida fan and was clearly pulling for Chris to win. But machida was a different fighter in the 4th and 5th than I ever sen out of himShowtimeWreckedMyLeever - If machida fights from start the way he fought in round 4/5 he would probably finish weidmanAnd if Weidman fought in rounds 4 and 5 like he is the first three, Machida would have been finished

Huh? That was an extremely close fight. Machida can definitely beat Chris.
Weidman earned a lot of validation in this fight but I the thread title is ludicrous. I didn't come away from this fight with the impression that Lyoto can't beat Chris. If they met again I think Lyoto would definitely have a chance, and he might even feel more confident because of the final 2 rounds.
Chris looked tired through 4 and 5 but Machida couldn't hurt him anyway. Wouldn't of mattered.
I think he could beat Weidman, too.
