That's no knock on him either, as I like Machida. Lyoto is a great fighter and former champion, but he's never beating Jon Jones or Chris Weidman.
Yup. "Fun fights" from now on.
Affliction Blackbelt - Well, if Weidman suddenly had to fight TRT Vitor in brazil and got KO'd I'm pretty sure Machida would jump in quick if there was no immediate rematch. Not likely to happen, but its the only way I see him getting another shot.
Even if that did happen (I think Weidman would beat Vitor), I have serious doubts that Machida would beat TRT Vitor.
Who knows?
He can work his way back up. Someone like him will only need 2-3 wins against top competition to be right there again. He didn't look that inferior. He just got outworked by Weidman, who looked good, in the first 3 rounds.
Weidman is a great champ, though .
:(
Favourite active fighter. Probably true though.
Vitor will beat Weidmann in the end of round 2.
Meh, I wouldn't say never. It was a good fight, not a domination. Everyone has a punchers chance.
colubrid1 - Vitor will beat Weidmann in the end of round 2.Lol if Vitor doesnt finish in rd 1 he will mentally break and get subbed

Machida could get rematch and win..... He was in that fight to the end. Just a slow start
It is unlikely, but it's tough to say. If he strings another few wins together it can be intriguing again. He did pretty well, but Weidman definitely took 4 out of the 5 rounds this time. Machida's a stud!
Floyd'sPeople -colubrid1 - Vitor will beat Weidmann in the end of round 2.Lol if Vitor doesnt finish in rd 1 he will mentally break and get subbed
yep Chris is too smart to play to vitors strengths which fade after the first round
Steve Perry -Chris is too smart to fight him outside of Vegas. Chris wins via fight never happening.Floyd'sPeople -colubrid1 - Vitor will beat Weidmann in the end of round 2.Lol if Vitor doesnt finish in rd 1 he will mentally break and get subbed

If machida fights from start the way he fought in round 4/5 he would probably finish weidman
If he gets a couple wins he might get another shot. He had a great fight with the champ, and if he goes out and gets another couple good wins I don't think anybody would upset with him getting another title shot,
That said, it's doubtful he'll become the champ, but it's still certainly within the realm of possibility.
Correct, he's 36yo. He, like Silva, is past his prime.
Hes still a good test, gatekeeper of sorts.
I would say a rematch would go a little better an you never know but he is getting old.
ShowtimeWreckedMyLeever - If machida fights from start the way he fought in round 4/5 he would probably finish weidmanAnd if Weidman fought in rounds 4 and 5 like he is the first three, Machida would have been finished

Brasco - Machida could get rematch and win..... He was in that fight to the end. Just a slow startThis. I'd love a rematch with a re calibrated dragon.

colubrid1 - Vitor will beat Weidmann in the end of round 2.Lol yeah ok... glad to see the retards r already movin on to the next loser. Then when Weidman beats Vitor, everyones going to say "Vitor was past his prime, Weidman still sucks"

ShowtimeWreckedMyLeever - If machida fights from start the way he fought in round 4/5 he would probably finish weidmanYeah but if Machida fought like that he would have been just as tired as Weidman in the 4th.
