Francis Ngannou is still sitting on the sidelines hoping for a big money boxing fight to come together. But all the top names in heavyweight boxing may already have a date in Saudi Arabia to fight against each other.
Talksport boxing editor Michael Benson has been keeping a close eye on developments in the division, and Matchroom Boxingâs Eddie Hearn shared some interesting news in that regard to IFL TV.
âEddie Hearn has declared that reps in the Middle East want to stage Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder ON THE SAME NIGHT in December,â Benson wrote on Twitter. âIn a mega deal that he believes could be worth âup to $400MILLIONâ in fighter purses if it gets made.â
Fury vs. Usyk nearly came together earlier this year before Fury seemingly squashed the deal over small details. That may be because he was aware of this potential big money deal to hold the event in Saudi Arabia towards the end of the year.
Ngannou has talked multiple times about fighting Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder. Hearn has suggested an Anthony Joshua fight could be possible as well. But with all four fighters in line to scoop up $400 million dollars in purses at the end of the year, where does that leave âThe Predator?â
Probably in the gym sharpening up his boxing skills, which he undoubtedly needs. Itâs questionable whether another nine plus months of training will get him where he needs to be to win a fight against a top heavyweight. But with everyone seemingly busy fighting in more legitimate big money bouts, he may have no choice but to wait until 2024 for his dream
EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW 2 Phunny
Guy is a moron, he wonât beat any top boxer, not a chance and he knows it he needs to go the Kimbo route for a few fights minimum before he gets in there with anybody half decent.
He doesnât want to box.
He wants a pay day to get his head lumped up, sell his name for a highlight reel, sad shit.
He might end up getting schooled by Luis Ortiz for peanuts at this rate if he insists on boxing
This article says everything I have been saying here for weeks. Francis wonât be a draw that he thinks when this actually may come together. It most likely wonât be ever especially after any rematches etc. He shouldâve played chess but instead played checkers.
Gonna go down as one of the all time career miscalculations.
Francis sucks
If you are AJ, Tyson, Wilder or Usyk what is the upside of giving Francis a shot now that he isnât the UFC champ? I canât think of any upside. He doesnât draw. Nobody considers him the champ anymore. He has no experience that makes him formidable as a contender. Why would they give him a fight?
Nothing in boxing is guaranteed until they are in the ring.
AJ or Usyk wouldnât.
Fury was talking about it in the context of retiring but still doing some Floyd style exhibition matches. He probably wasnât that serious, just using the threat of retiring in attempt to get fights made with AJ or Usyk.
Wilder, the worst draw, was probably the most serious but he was probably assuming Francis is a big name that could help him sell PPV. Realizing Francis wouldnât draw, he probably wouldnât actually do it either.
NGANNOUâS PEOPLE BETTER GET ANDY RUIZâS PEOPLE ON THE LINE ASAP, THATS ABOUT THE ONLY âBIG NAMEâ HEAVYWEIGHT LEFT AT THIS POINT.
NGANNOU GONNA HAVE TO TAKE A LESSER FIGHTER FOR LESS $$ AT THIS POINT.
Ngannou donât have no people. They wanted 10â CAN you believe that!?!? Heâs the star! dudnt owe âem nuffinâ
I think if he had a Boxing fight lined up while still the UFC champion there would definitely be some interest.
However he isnât the champion anymore and everyone is quickly forgetting about him and he hasnât fought for over a year.
In fact he has only fought twice in the last 3 years. Interest is waning fast.
If Francis can get in with Eddie Hearn now, he could secure an apartment at their training center and guaranteed business lunches per weekâŚI keed I keed.
