SHIDOKAN 10.20.06 ATLANTA

TTT someone from Tremmell's should post the event flyer, it's pretty cool, Im almost tempted to use it for a t-shirt design ........................

ttt

I would, JJ, if I knew how. How do you do it?

Bro I'll have someone post it, I just the flyer via e-mail from Richard.

Raphael is tough as hell...I hope he compete's in the SHIDOKAN again this year!

I like the triathlon rounds. But I still love the old full-on bare-knuckle karate tournaments they orginally did. A lot of fighters who are known now in mma and kickboxing have tried their hand at Shidokan. As I said before. A guy who has been having some good success in Pancrase, Kestutis Arbicius, was one the most bad-ass bare-knuckle fighters I have seen. World Open is December 2.

Less than 2 weeks!

Shidokan =a good kyokushin based karate style that arranges kickass open multiple dicipline competitions (usualy only bareknuckle "knockdown" karate and kickboxing. MMA is only rarely, although increasingly, part of it).

The competition format will never realy break through and make it big, though. The 3 different rule sections in the same fight confuses the hell out of many "regular joes" from the street -who have enough trouble learning one set of rules for a event.

I have won it 3 times, but it is hard as hell! it is harder than a cage fight. if you don't believe me try it. I

I think the 3 different sets of rules actually makes it very interesting. It also appeals to those who may only practice one of the sets of rules as a hobby. Moving it to 3, 3 min rounds instead of 6, 2 min rounds also doesn't allow the competitors to get too comfortable in one particular rule set.

This time, these will be my first pro fights, so I am all kinds of ready for this coming Friday!

Hello Mr Carter. Nice seeing you post!

As a knockdown karate practicioner, I must take the opportunity and ask if you have any background in bareknuckle "knockdown rules" karate (kyokushin/shidokan etc) or if your only experience in it is competing in (and preparing for) Shidokan events? If you dont have a background training it, what is your oppinions on the competition form as a "outside" fighter?

Either way, I hope to see you fight in Shidokan again!

I look forward to The Pimp's reply, too. But, he trains out of the Chicago dojo, so he is not an outsider.

Hiza Geri, I agree that the 3 rules sets make it more interesting, but then we are familliar with fighting sports and the fact that rules change all the time. My experience is that the "regular Joe" that have not watched that much fightsports, have trouble keeping things apart when being faced with several sets of rules in one single event -let alone in one single fight!
