The 3rd Atlanta Shidokan Team USA
Comes Back With A Boom

On October 20, 2006, fighters from across the country will face off in one of the most grueling tournaments in existence. Atlanta's 3rd Annual Shidokan Team USA will explode at the Coca Cola Roxy.

The Shidokan, known as "The Triathlon of Martial Arts", will showcase fighters from as far as Hawaii to Alabama. Fighters will fight under three disciplines: Bare knuckle Karate, Thai Boxing, and Mixed Martial Arts. This unique tournament brings together fighters from different backgrounds (Kickboxing, MMA, and Karate fighters). Because each match is fought under 3 sets of rules, fighters will have to cross train well to make it through to their specialty.

Winners of the Team USA will go on to fight in the Annual Shidokan World Open, December 2, 2006 in Chicago. The winners will also be given opportunities to compete in international Shidokan events in Europe and Japan. Fighters will be given the option to further their careers and fight in their chosen specialties (Triathlon rules, Thai boxing or MMA). Local fighters such as Phillip Botha, Camron Wiltshire, and Joe Merit will fight in this tournament. UFC, KOTC, Ironheart, Superbrawl veteran, and 2 time Team USA Champion Shonnie "Mr. International" Carter will be in attendance. Tickets are available through Ticket Master. Terrific vid and great event. I ran into Shidokan many years ago on ESPN2. I really like the format.

I think the format does display true traditional karate at its very best as well as requiring a great deal of technical ability and sheer toughness from the competitors.

Any green namers from Atl or GA for that matter entering this?

top

Harris Norwood is supposed to enter, last I heard, and he is a green namer.

This will be my first pro fight, but I'm from AL. I did fight last year, and Raphael Assuncao submitted me in the third round.

Both the Assuncao brothers seem to be doing real well right now.

I have not seen a tournament like this, should be great

Richard Trammel runs Shidokan Atlanta. He is a class act, a great teacher and a tremendous fighter at any phase of the fight.

Check this out if you get the chance - these tournaments are always exciting.

ttt cool event
