Silva's manager dismisses talk of retirement

Ed Soares, the manager of UFC middleweight champion, Anderson “The Spider” Silva has spoken out against claims the best fighter on the planet will sensationally quit at some point next year.

Writing on mma.tv, Soares said about claims of a rift between the middleweight champ and UFC President Dana White:

“Dana hasn't done anything to f*** over Silva,”

“It's the complete opposite. Dana has been very good to Anderson.”

“I can guarantee you Anderson will not be retiring within the next year. He still has 6 fights on his contract.”

With Silva next in action in just a few weeks against Patrick Cote, expect if he wins for “The Spider” to push on in his bid for light heavyweight glory.

 ttt for the retards

^that made me chuckle

I didn't believe it to begin w/.

Ya dont want to piss off Ed Soares.

article on Newsday.com saying he wants to try out pro boxing.

Retiring is the best thing to do for a champion.

Prevents them from having to fight everybody deemed a #1 contender such as Cote. He can't win a fight like that. He beats a guy he should or Cote makes him look bad

By being retired like Randy he can wait and get the money for a fight he can really train for. Nobody would be a true champion unless they beat him anyway.

Anderson doesnt seem like the type of guy that would retire in the middle of his prime.

Dana said no to the boxing match with Roy Jones, This could be why he looking to retire. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Then if he beats Roy Jones he is the "MAN" and Dollars role in.

If he looses he walks away with millions and goes back to MMA.

12 months vs 18 months. not much of a differenct imo.

Soares told MSNBC that Silva will retire at 35 because he wants to spend more time with his family.

http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/26856545/

"Soares said Silva has a desire to spend more time with his family. Silva has four children and spends much of his time on the road training and competing. Soares estimated Silva only gets to spend about 25 percent of his time at home.

After the Cote fight, Silva will have five fights left on his current contract. Silva fought three times in '07 and his next fight will be his third of '08, so given his work output, he could conceivably satisfy the terms of his current deal by April of '10."

i would love to see a. silva/forest or A. Silva /Rashad if he beats Cote

funny someone posting an article referencing a message board post 2 days after it happened on the same message board.

I love your optimism....if he beats Cote....Cote has a better chance of getting Silva pregnant than winning this fight!!!

I want to see Silva break the UFC record for consecutive title defenses. He has four right now and the record is five held by both Tito Ortiz and Matt Hughes.

If he fights those 6 fights against competitive opponents and then retires from MMA, I got nothing to whine about.

I know how to fix that.

He says he wants to fight more. Well quit asking to that when its taking time away from the fam. Fight and time some time off and enjoy time with fam and then train and fight and repete
