^ You're absolutely right, I didn't. Now I feel silly.
Now with that said, how about Randy and Ryan Couture?
Oh dang it, you're right! Okay, how about Julio Caesar Chavez and Julio Caesar Chavez Jr............and how about Phil Simms and Matt Simms?
I'm a very casual boxing fan so I could be wrong. I don't believe JCC jr is seen anywhere close to his dad even though he has a good record. Anyone care to clear this up for me?
Phil Simms isn't in the hall of fame and neither of his sons have ever even been consistent starters.
I was totally messing around. My first post with the ball players and all was a misunderstanding because i hadn't read the original post clearly that I was responding to, but clearly Randy and Ryan was a joke, so when it was taken seriously I came out with a couple more silly sarcastic examples, but you guys are a tough crowd.
Okay, one more try......
Thomas Hearns and his kid, what his name
and Muhammad Ali and Leila before she ducked Anne Wolfe
and Ken Shamrock and his bastard child who posts on this forum
Okay, all in fun fellas. Anderson's boy could be the real deal though, but I don't think so.
SensoriaUtopia -pud12 - When has the child of a superstar athlete been anything close to their parent? There have been decent pro athletes have legendary children and some legendary parents have had some decent pro athlete children but I can't think of a single time where a family put out back to back legends.
Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr. - Jr blows his dad away
Archie Manning and Peyton, Eli - Peyton and Eli crush Archie
Harrison Wilson and Russell Wilson - Harrison barely even played
There's been solid players who had kids that ended up being solid players, again, no legends making legends
Cecil Fielder and Prince Fielder
Rick Barry and Brent Barry
Felipe Alou and Moises Alou
Bobby Hull and Brett Hull in hockey are probably the closest to what I'm thinking
Unless I'm forgetting someone history suggests Silva's son will be good, not great, at best.
I don't agree with your post in the examples you put
Ken Griffey Sr had a heck of a career and was not just an average ballplayer, he is a tremendous baseball player on Cincananti Reds baseball team that was a machine, and Archie Manning is an absolute legend, his talent was every bit as good as Terry Bradshaw or Ken Stabler or Jim Plunkett, and he just was on horrible teams that he made actually at least watchable. Had a good pro career stat wise for his day, and showed great talent.
This would be like if one of Philip Rivers many kids became a tremendous pro qb, even better than Philip, then someone said his dad was just a decent QB, when Philip Rivers has been one of the best 7 qb's in the NFL, if not higher than that, for the last 6 years.
But I do agree that chances are pretty fucking small that Anderson's son will be even close to as great as Anderson, I mean Andy is for me 3rd best alltime ever.
Ken Griffey Sr made a few all-star games and had a long career but he's nowhere near his son's greatness.
Archie Manning's career stats
Pass attempts: 3,642
Pass completions: 2,011
Percentage: 55.2
TD–INT: 125–173
Passing yards: 23,911
QB rating: 67.1
I don't care what team he was on. That's nowhere near Peyton. Remember how awful the Colts were when Peyton got hurt?
Yep. I can't think of an instance where a superstar athlete had a son that in turn became a superstar. Michael Jordan is a great example. His son was good enough to play college ball but didn't make the NBA. Tim Hardaway was a great player and his son made the NBA but is not making any all-star teams soon.

Haha alright my bad.
I'm far from an authority on boxing and know very little about Leila Ali. Anyone else care to give their thoughts on Muhammad and Leila's greatness in relation to each other?
pud12 -Leila is a bit of a Chavez Jnr tbh; great record, but heavily padded due to careful matchmaking.sgotwalks -pud12 -sgotwalks -Joey Jo-Jo Junior Shabadoo -sgotwalks -Ryan and randy prove his point.

Ali fought Foreman and Anne Wolfe was effectively Leila's Foreman. And she ducked her.
But in regards to the question of a legendary fighter that has a son who matches expectations? The only one right now with the potential to do that?
Chris Eubanks Jnr.

Three words...Michael.Jordan's.son. He went nowhere, so will Spider Jr.
Mike Conley and Mike Conley Jr. Different sports but both very talented.
Chris Brennan is not an mma household name like Anderson Silva is.
But that being said, Chris has two sons he posts videos of weekly and his sons are extremely technical.
His oldest son, Lucas, is 15 and competes in weight classes above his own, as well as competes against grown men.
You want to talk about the son of an athlete perhaps surpassing his dad....
