So about the Ishii/JLB fight....

What did I miss? I mean I saw the fight but why the hell have they turned on Ishii who was supposed to be such a HUGE draw overseas? Ishii EASILY won that fight, what did he do to piss the fans off? When have you ever heard Japanese MMA fans boo twice in one night?(other time being Aoki acting like a jackass before getting blasted).

Someone needs to explain it to me or something. Mindblowing that Japanese fans would boo a Japanese "icon" for no good reason.

And this is JLB of all people. The guy walked out on his last fight before it was even over. Shouldn't you be booing JLB?

wtf is going on....

JLB was reversing position and getting out of sub attempts... Ishii is still greenier then Snoop's chronic stash, he needs work.

So a guy thats been fighting for a year in MMA can't finish a guy that has more experience EVEN in MMA, and the Japanese fans who are supposed to be supporting their Olympian "hero" boo him? What kind of fucking logic is that?

It's like everybody just forgot that JLB walked out of a fight that was still going on only a few months ago. I'd boo the shit out of that guy for the rest of his career if I were them.

Dude, forget work. At this point it's abundantly clear MMA is not for Satoshi Ishii.

The question is whether or not he wants to keep going on, knowing he'll be a journeyman at best. Not exactly sterling motivation though for a gold-medalist.

lol that's pretty much true, i'm giving the kid the benefit of the doubt...he can make money in Japan.

About 2 years ago, he wore a UFC t-shirt to a DREAM event. And then calling out Fedor. Plus it was a boring fight.

He's cold and unrelatable

Ishi Clay Guida'd him and the Japanese want to see action not hugging.

Anyone else think Ishi sould turn heel?

Schiavello mentioned that JLB is a huge name in Japan, and Ishii looked like shit in that fight.

If I remember the last JLB fight, he should have walked out. Wasn't that the fight he clearly DOMINATED, but the judges made it a draw and sent it to an extra round?

Not impressed with Ishii.

Apparently came close with some kimuras in the end and JLB is a big strong dude but old and a fckin kickboxer.

Ishii is still young enough but he has not really come along very well, perhaps if things dont turn around soon, he may need to go back to judo.

No, iirc, JLB started out strong but Kyotaro started giving it to him up until the end. The draw was justified and JLB simply no mas'd.

JLB is a bigger star in K1 than Ishi.

The fans were just supporting their hero who fought hard.

if JLB had focused in MMA 7 years ago, he would have been top 10.

now I just hope he collects some good money and stop.

Again, the guy has been fighting in MMA for a year. They can't all be like Brock Lesnar and train for a year and end up UFC HW champion. All he was coming in with was judo which isn't exactly the most effective martial art to have as your base. Point being, he's SUPPOSED to be green. And fought a guy that had more MMA experience than him.

Lebanner was given mad respect because he is legend that stepped out of his comfort zone, gave it his all and performed quite well.

Ishii doesn't really attempt to finish fights and shows little improvement.

Isn't this like Ishii's 5th fight ? JLB has much more experience than him and Ishii is still very young. He controlled JLB throughout the whole bout, without much problem, winning the unanimous decision.

JLB would probably be a mid-tier UFC HW, he probably has better ground game than Cheick Kongo.

JLB does not have much more experience than Ishii. He only had 5 MMA fights. And most of them joke matchups

Kongo would outwrestle Lebanner and destroy him with G&P in an MMA fight

Ishii is also super unfunny despite trying really hard to be charasmatic.

If he had the skills to back it up Ishii should turn heel, the sad part is he doesn't...

MMA experience aside, when Ishii has top position, his judo experience should be more than adequate to sub a kick boxer. Do you think inexperienced Roger Gracie would have blown all of those chances?

Allcloser,

I've heard that Ishii is unpopular in Japan because he has a rather brash, crude personality, and was publicly disrespectful to a member of the royal family. Do you know if this is true?
